One question: Why are some people's novels recognized while others aren't? For example, one man wrote a fantastic novel that received 30 readers and 5 drops in one month, whereas another man's "not-so-great" novel received 1456 readers on Scribble Hub in one week and a 2.5 rating.

I sincerely don't understand why, but I believe these talks are necessary.

Well this is my new series though

Title and image cover.

And the Synopsis premise.

Also the current trend.

Don't forget Eccentric joke clown badass character with deep lore, female comforting characters and their fanservice.

Pretty much popularity is due to the READER acceptance, not just the quality of the story itself.

*****

One great example for Great quality story but quite unpopular is Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song.

The story is great, because the writing is made by Re:Zero's author.

Animation quality is also great. There's nothing wrong with it. But it fails to gain much audience.

It's time travel premise was pretty much not quite popular these days.

Unlike Re:Zero that became 2016 hits due to Isekai trend.

Author just need to see the trend, and then make a good quality story with that premise.

even tho the animation is pretty much what Kadokawa can offer to their best main series, it still manage to gain traction due to the Isekai trend and the FanService.

Even the author didn't expect Rem to be that popular.

What are You saying, everyone attempted that, but in the end, a novel with no description and no cover will be more successful than one with all the best descriptions and eye-catching cover art.

But thanks though, for the suggestion

These contribute to having readers pick the work:

1). Cover (For that 'Caught at first sight' effect)
2). Synopsis (To reinforce the magic of the cover)
3). Tags (For online novels, so that those who care to read them are warned of what they should expect)
4). Title (Some readers have biases towards long ass titles, like isekai ones)
5). First Chapter/Paragraph (I've read a lot of readers here saying that they judge the story from its first paragraph/chapter)
6). Grammar (Glaring mistakes, and some readers woould drop it even before they pick it up)

Those elements are something the author has a control with. However, there are others that is usually beyond your control:

1). Reader/Site preference
2). Site algorithm
3). Luck

Question is, what to do to gain readers?

1). Consistency (try to maintain quality on your work)
2). Effort to develop/correct your story (though it's kind of painful and hard to correct story mistakes, we need to do it)
3). Discipline (dropping stories too often can have a negative impact on our rep as a 'serious' writer)

What I'm saying is,

You need to understand the readers of the site if you want to gain some attention.

Story with interesting premise that didn't follow the trend will lose with the one that less quality but follow the trend.

Look at the most popular at each tag.

Novel with no cover and no description will have less chance since they're relying too much on title. It simply lose.

Hans.Throndeim already said better than me.

Scribblehub demographics. Sometimes a novel will do well just because it's written by what seems to be a confirmed female.

No, some people are unfairly born rich. It will never be fair. Also no point in trying to enforce fairness either, that’s impossible. Better to focus on making money and doing things you like if you can.

Well this is my new series though

Your intro has a sentence fragment in it.

"After being reincarnated into a new realm full of magic and monsters"

is not a sentence.
