Are AMVs still a thing?

I found an old flash drive while cleaning with some old downloaded AMVs (anime music videos). Oh, the nostalgia! Are they still as prevalent as I remember they were 15 years ago? The ones I found after a quick YouTube search pales in the effort of editing put into them compared to the old ones. At least what I found so far. Do you have any you like? Care to share them? Or should I drag my weeb boomer ass back to my cave?

Anyway, I still leave one of it here, luckily, it is still up on YouTube, and the copyright goblins of today did not bonk it to oblivion. Yet. What I meant by 'effort of editing' is something like this—not just cutting the video into the rhythm of the selected music.

Hmm, now I have another title to put on the "why didn't I see this?" list. And it reminded me of RedLine for a moment. Dunno why.

3 years ago, not sure if it's considered dead

it's probably just not that popular anymore. the last time i bothered binging them was when baka oppai was still active.

Yes. You kinda need to search for it because Youtube algorithm is designed to echo chamber you. But yeah, plenty out there.

Its called Speed Grapher. Its an interesting anime about people who get super powers based off their twisted fetishes. As you may have guessed it is a mature show filled with sex & violence. Its very unique, and ends well. I highly recommend this hidden gem

A;so, yall are some omega level weeaboos up in here

That is a thing I didn't know was a thing. Call me intrigued.
It was around 2010-2012 when I got addicted to it, and there were some real good MAOs before. Now, there's barely a number of good videos, prolly because of DMCAs.

Jasi AMVs and Light Raider both make pretty solid AMVs and post them on the regular. Neither are all too amazing yet but both have definitely been improving lately.

For really good quality I recommend checking out Shin AMV and Pixel Blended Studios. They don't post very often but when they do it's always good.

AMVs would be popular, but depending on JP studio and record label's moods, your channel can get hit with DMCA and/or copyright claims. And your channel gets shut down with just 3 claims.

That is pretty much what I was thinking about. Copyrighted music/video material is the algorithm's favorite jacking material.

As painful as it is to say something positive about anything that seems to glorify China even in jest, this one really made me crack a smile. It also reminds me a little bit of my world history class in Highschool in which when the teacher was doing their unit on China we had a few students unable to pronounce Mao's full name (Mao Zedong). There was one girl when the teacher was doing a review quiz and Mao was the answer to the question. She was all "I dunno, uhh... Mao Taste Tongue?"

(I'm quite certain it didn't help that the teacher wasn't really pronouncing the name right either. He pronounced it "Mao-se-tong," with actual separation between the "se" and the "tong.")

and what problems with China exactly do you have? Well, actually don't answer since I don't want to accidentally reel this into a political territory and get banned.

Use invidious. It is an opensource front end to youtube for privacy and removal of unnecessary parts of UI

Actually, there's a pretty solid way to talk about problems with China whilst skirting the line on the "no-politics" policy. This would be because one of the many issues with China's international policy is one where they do not respect the intellectual property rights of anyone outside of China. This is a policy that is often taken advantage of by people on China-based sites like Webnovel (with a capital W, so as to differentiate the website from the writing format) which are rife with plagiarism that the site's mods will never address.

There are several threads on this site alone that bring up the menace to all webnovel creators that is Webnovel. And, it just so happens one of the best methods to protect yourself against IP theft from China-based websites is to hide references to the CCP's numerous and egregious human rights violations in your writing somewhere, the more subtle and varied the better, and make it public that you do so. This will protect you against both the IP theft and also the constant badgering by Webnovel to sucker you into their exploitative contracts.

For the sake of said anti-politics rule though, and also for the more certain violation we're guilty of right now of taking this thread off track, I will just say that you can search for any of the numerous threads on this site complaining about Webnovel to find references to the CCP's human rights violations.
