My kid likes drinking chamomile tea and lemon zinger out of my cups a lot. It's also really cute how he always makes a happy, "Ah!" sigh after taking a sip. I have to supervise closely so he doesn't break my cups, and I'd like to have more relaxed tea times, so I'm getting him this for Christmas. Now I'd like some tea recommendations if you have any favorites. Bonus points if the tea tastes good lukewarm or cold since he needs more dexterity points and constitution points before I let him handle hot tea. I'm looking mostly for stuff without caffeine, but I'm open to recommendations for pretty much anything as long as it's safe for breastfeeding, and most things are safe in moderation, so don't worry too much about that. I'll look up the ingredients myself.

Been a big fan of a certain lead set, but apparently that's not available everywhere.

Oolong tea is nice cold. Tea will contain caffeine if the leaves are from the camellia sinensis plant. That's black, green and oolong. Most herbal teas are caffeine free.

The best companies for tea at least in the UK is considered to be Yorkshire tea. Clipper is also very good but harder to get. I think Twinnings is good but haven't had it in a long time so don't know.

I generally go for Earl Grey or chai.

For no caffeine, go with anything floral, white teas or rooibus. Rose and chrysanthemum make for excellent cool/cold teas (of course, best when brewed hot). However, if you want him to explore it on his own, red rooibus with hibiscus and fruits (apples, red berries) is fine to cold brew. White teas have incredibly low caffeine (about 1% that of coffee. Green, oolong, black and chai have 5-10%, 15, 20 and 100% respectively) and fast steep times with the lowest steeping temperatures (if you put the tea in then add water, follow a (9/6/3/0 rule where black teas have 0 ice cubes before the water is added and white teas have 9). For all of these, if you were to cold steep them, keep in mind that it will take longer than if you use hot water (a cold white might take 3-4 minutes, while hot would be about 1 minute). The other thing to consider is that tea leaves should be removed to prevent over steeping and making the tea bitter (same is true for temps, if you "burn" the tea with hot water, it tastes bitter) while rooibus, chai and flowers can all be left in the pot. They can also be reused until you're no longer happy with the taste, similar to tea leaves.

I have a bunch of loose leaf teas that I could recommend but most of them are from specific shops, tea houses, or from farmers markets so they are hard to get.

Have you tried Thai tea ?
It's only good when combined with milk + sugar. The scent is too strong if consumed directly.

You can try to combine your kid's milk with it. Or Maybe tried it with your "milk" ?
Definitely reckless advice.

Btw, I'm kinda interested to be Tea Enthusiast, but I already used my money on Cofee enthusiast grinder and beans.

My advice is to buy scale and use timer for consistent tea flavor. 3 gram tea and 200ml of water + 10 minutes, for example, will always have the same taste no matter how many time you tries it.

So if you manage to find the taste you like, you can repeat it as many times as you want in the future.

And also, try to buy non metal teapot. It may affect the taste of the tea.

Now that I'm off of work and can list some tea that I like, I would recommend:

Angelic white tea from Letterbox Fine Tea Company
Ritual Black Chai from Letterbox Fine Tea Company
Earl Grey De la Creme from Steeped Tea Company
vanilla Bourbon from Kettle Black Teahouse
Sticky Rice Toucha from Kettle Black Teahouse
Moroccan Mint from Corazon Coffee Roasters

These are all great tea types and are listed from top to bottom by favorite. You can look up the brand or teahouse and find all the information about these tea blends.

If he likes chaomille, then he might also like fennel-anise-caraway tea, fennel tea itself is also tasty and easy to digest for children. There is also nettle or peppermint tea. I usually drink balm-mix-tea (balm, peppermint, and other herbs) when I want a mix between soothing and intensive taste.

Personally, I wasn't very fond of fruit teas or black tea/green tea as a child as they were too sour/bitter for my taste, I came only to appreciate their taste later after putting in lots of sugar... but that probably isn't the best thing to teach a child :blob_sweat:

Rooibus with peach is also tasty with condensed milk.
