Kumo desu ga has a pretty original and interesting twist on elves, though they're far from the focus point of that story. Hmmm, it's not a novel, but if you read manga then Sousou no Frieren has elves that are like the stereotypes, but explores the downsides of that kind of being much more deeply than most works do, to the point that it feels like an original spin of it. It's a really good read that I think might revitalize your interest in the race.

Well, my from my point of view, elves are kind yet prideful creatures that like to live in harmony with nature and apart of other races. They are highly magical beings who enjoy singing in peace, though incurring in the wrath of an elf might be the last thing you do.

Of course, I'm biassed with Tolkien's Lord of the Ring and the Silmarilion, but I think he was the first person to give Elves a serious look. As for elves in modernity, I think DanMachi has the better grasp of them, though they're still not the image I have of them.
