I've been reading and watching a bunch of things about writing to improve my writing and flow.
On my journey, I found out that my way might be, uh... dumb?
Anyway, I did the basics of an outline to guide me. Writing without one lead to nowhere.

So I boot up my writing program to write.
Next step is to write right? Wrong!

I keep getting distracted, and I make a scene first.
Then I write. However, now my outline is a mess. The story is branching off to who knows where.
It's time consuming.
How do I even post daily like this?
Oh well, at least I get pictures.

I'm also curious about how some of you guys write. What's your process?
Link it so I can read them.

Writing is a messy skill.
Everyone processes writing differently.
You have to understand style.
Someone who is teaching you how to write generally teaches you their own style.
Their style might actually be boring.
They might be teaching you wrong.
The main thing is you need a cohesive story.
That's what test readers are for.

No.

Also I just skimmed a bit of your story. I think your style is good but your characters are boring based on what I've read.

Don't be too hung up about it. Just finish what you're doing first, then edit the dumb part out. You just need the achievement of completing something. After that, things get a little easier.

Look at Eragon. Man, the writing is dumb, the plot is predictable and the characters are one dimensional. But it's fine, because he finished it and his parents owned a publishing house with a large budget. There will always be an audience for a book, as long as you finish it. If you don't like it, you can change the details later, but finish the book first.

If you want to see what Ai-chan writes, it's in the signature. Completed books are not in there.

Compared to the more unstylish forms I've seen from authors here, I'd say your writings far beyond their level. And due to your efforts to perfect your craft, you're clearly not in need for others to critique your work. I'll say this: If more people voted, I'd say they'd all agree to "No". Excluding all the trolls, of course.

Well, I'm talking more about the actual process of writing.
I want to write without drawing and distracting myself first lol.

Plus, there's my outline! I want to follow my outline! It sucks that I've gone off the rails.

Based off how you wrote in this thread, it doesn't seem like it at all. And even though I spoiled myself by comparing chapter's one and chapter twenty-two in "Immortal Agency", I'd say you're still a shoo-in!

Everything's dumb when you're starting out. It's the rule, not the exception, that better writing comes with better writing processes, and better writing processes comes with practice. Writing is not a destination, it's a journey. Every story (short story, novelette, novella, or novel) you write is a journey. Every chapter you write is a smaller journey in itself. Rome was not built in a day, so your writing process is not perfected in a day, either. Yours involves drawing pictures and then writing. That's unique. Do it, do it, and do it again. You'll only get better at it from there.

I have news for you:
You are a pantser.
Nothing wrong with that. It is just that you are wasting your time with outlines. Let the words get out of you with the speed of a raging buffalo. Put in the foreshadowing later.

I write by typing with my eyeballs, so I suspect your method of writing isn't as dumb as mine.
