Looking to bounce ideas with people on how to make a Devil Fruit that is logical (in One Piece context).

Currently thinking of a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit named the “Battle-Battle Fruit” (placeholder). It makes the consumer a “Fighting Human”, which increases combat prowess with each battle or challenge they have won. Consequently, with each loss the user will face a detrimental condition. The less challenging the fight is for the user, the less they improve and vice versa.

Side Note: There are 3 possible branches in which I think it can manifest.
1. A bodily manifestation. The body would adapt to the strenuous situations that occurred during battle. Being injured excessively could increase defense/regeneration, tiring battles may increase stamina capacity/efficiency, etc...
2. A spiritual manifestation. Similar to “Martial Intents” in cultivation novels, the strengthening could manifest as a “Aura”. This would cause you to exude a kind of pressure on opponents, cause internal illusions in foes, increase attack range/strength, etc..
3. An environmental manifestation. This allows access to the “Battlefield” pocket dimension. Every slain enemy is manifested as a “Fallen Foe” (think an armoured skeleton with a rusty weapon through it), fallen comrades manifest as “Hallowed Banner” (like a roman legion banners), and failed battles manifest as “Gravemind” (mix of its namesake and a death knight)
I personally lean towards number 2.

Any suggestions that work for One Piece are welcome . The name, way the power manifests, how it interacts with Haki or Marine arts (if at all), etc...

Sounds more like Combo Star from 7ds with that name.

To be fair, anything is reasonable in the One Piece setting :))

The fruit you're referring to is pretty nice, as I said, it's hard to have something that doesn't fit that setting.

If you want more ideas about fruits, I can think of a few...

Bone-Bone Fruit: Paramecia that grants one control over their bones, extending them and strengthening them greatly.(think Kiminaru from naruto the DF, but with more flexibility)

Distance-Distance Fruit: Paramecia that creates a barrier around the user that allows them to repel any enemy instantly. It could also have an auxiliary ability to close the distance, pulling enemies within the user's line of sight.

Mythical Zoan, Insect Model Elder Centipede: The user becomes what is essentially the Elder Centipede from OPM :))

I mean, there are a lot of things that come to mind, but these were the first three. Hope they help, somehow.

It wouldn’t happen during battle, but instead during recuperation. I do apologize for not being clear in my writing. The original post has been edited in an attempt to clear up future misconceptions.

That's already a thing in One Piece. The Barrier-Barrier Fruit. Bartolemews whole thing.

Yeah, but this one's not really an actual barrier(I described it as one cuz I was thinking about Barto, btw), it just pushes things away. Bartolomeo also can't pull others towards him. There are plenty of powers that share similarities in one piece tho, so it could work anyway.

For the sake of character development, I would rather use a simple fruit at first like: Gain a random permanent 'buff' after wining a battle and a temporary one during battle after X time based on the number and strength of the enemy or something like that.

Could also be applied to training and the likes as he is 'fighting' technically

You can take out the random parts as 'Conqueror Haki is taking control over the fruit' or armaments guiding the buff to a specific part, something like that.

Having a controlled strengthening for your character during difficult battles and, possibly, training is a great tool for an author if you know how to make use of it.
