I'm used to giving free cover art to anyone who needs it, but there are times that the request is so brazen it's kind of insulting.

In any case, while I have no problem in threads like these, the requester sometimes need to realize their request isn't something easy to do, hence, @tiaf 's reaction.
Sometimes people need to get told such things, or they will walk through life with this ignorance and might really ask people such things face-to-face.

And I was serious when I told OP to create a stockpile. That had nothing to with malice or being offended. I know a lot of writers who don't make it past the 5 chapter mark, even giving up after writing 50k worth of story. Covers are the least priority.

The estimate of time needed for art was based on what I observed from other artists. @beast_regards asked so I answered.

True, I agree with your observation. And based from my experiences, I'm pretty careful now in picking up free requests. (Aside from my tablet is broken)

What is the "not brazen" way of asking for art? Especially, free art. Or pretty much anything, really. Using "please" along with "thank you" may be nice, I get that, but won't be an end-all approach, considering the reaction.

Well, for starters, you already said it yourself. It won't stop others, but it's a start of something. And just because it won't stop others, you won't try to correct them.

We're writers ffs. We deal with words. And not everyone here came from same culture and/or country. Have some respect when dealing with everyone, including online; it's basic human courtesy.

Will do. Lemme just awaken myself from my slumber.
