A sandwich is defined as "two or more pieces of bread or a split roll with a filling in between," according to Merriam-Webster. Hot dogs, under that definition, appear to be sandwiches. It's reasonable to conclude that a hot dog isn't a taco because the term taco refers to a Mexican food made out of filled maize or wheat tortillas, but when it comes to sandwiches, things get a little fuzzy.
So is a hotdog a sandwich? Why or why not? Do you put dogs in your hot dog?
