A couple of days ago, I felt like my muse has left me. But, I got some encouraging words from all of you, and that got me to force myself into continuing to write. I was looking for something to enforce my writing habit. A reward that my brain wouldn't say no to. So, I found WriteNext, a site that gives badges for achievements, keeps an account of how many words you have written, and, in the past 9 days, I wrote 61,143 words. All recorded in WriteNext.

This is from today only. I type only with two fingers, so my typing speed is not too great. (My average is 30 words per minute.) But I do my best. Now, I am going to turn the five chapters I wrote today into an audiobook and finished editing them.

You're on a roll. If you release something that isn't BL... I'll read it.
Well, I have a couple:
The Apple Grotto Nymph: kiddie romance between a boy (read merman) and a girl (read nymph.)
Annie and the Rice Quest. (Short fairy tale, the romance is not the main focus, but there is a slight crush between a man and a woman.)
Shelter Rescue (A slice of life with a boyXgirl romance. My newest work. I don't plan any smut in it. Come to think of it, I tend to put smut only in my BLs...weird.)(This one focuses on the plight of animals abandoned in an animal shelter.)
See? I am diverse!
(Although I write mainly BL, which is the truth.)
Come to think of it, I also read mainly BL. So, maybe that is why. Personally, I like to read feels good romances. I guess all my stories would have the same feel if they were just BG, but, there is something alluring about BL that I just can't place my finger on.
Happy reading!

Yes, it is. I tend to come in here after I am done writing out my daily words.

I have added them to reading list. Most of my smut/romance is GL, but I explored a Poly romance which I found a bit more complicated than I would like. Still, I've seen you post but never read any of your works so I'll have to take a look.

I don't have anything but GL/Poly smut so don't feel obligated to read it, I don't expect that.

If you write a BG, I don't ask for BL since you don't seem to like it, I'll read it. :blob_cookie:

I appreciate that.
I'm keeping my smut author persona separate and anonymous from my serious author persona so if you were looking for a philosophical novel someday in the future you might accidentally read it without knowing :).

Have a good night (or day). I'm off to bed now where I am.

Make sure to remember quality > quantity, unless you are writing a cultivator novel, then quality doesn't matter! :)

I write with 2-3-4 fingers, but I have two main fingers that I use. I used to manage 90 words a minute on a flat top chicklet keyboard. Now that I have amechanical keyboard, it's actually slowed me down because you have to press the keys down further, and it creates an indent into the board of keys, so I can't ice skate over the keyboard with my fingers anymore, lol.

I was doing 6k a day in the Royal Road Writathon. It's a lot of work. I feel I could sustain it if I was making a living writing, but for me, 3k a day (a million words a year) is comfortable.

Have you considered that maybe you're pushing yourself too hard to write all those words and maybe that's causing you not to write? I admit, after doing those 6k a day, I've not written in days. I don't know if it's the amount that I've written that's kinda burnt me out, or rather that I've been with the same story for 150,000 words. I get bored after around 30k, so I tend to hop from volume to volume on different projects to keep myself interested and refreshed. It works really well for me.

I have this thing I do. I write the first 4k words in one setting, in the morning, and I take a long break before the final 1k. And I do cycling. Before I start to write my chapters for the day, I check the outline I made after I was done writing yesterday's chapter. So, if there is something I had an idea for in chapter 10 but didn't write about until chapter 16, then, in chapter 17, I go back to it. You know, a strategy from Writing into the Dark that I picked up recently.

Very nice. I can easily say that Dean Wesley Smith is the most influential writer teacher for me, and I've read a lot of books on writing.

Gratz!

I can type about 30 without it starting to hurt my hands. The biggest barrier is trying to think what to write next though.

You ever heard of 4thewords? That's my go-to word count tracker. Although it doesn't keep track of your WPM, it turns writing into a fun little RPG adventure.
