Context: mc was reincarnated in a fivr game he played, and was going on with life until he realised something: a part of his memories were gone, and even the gods didn’t know why. How do you think you could make a believable freak out over this?

Every time he died in the game, the heart symbol he lost was gained back by consuming his memories and turning it into life force by the system of the video game ---- much like in the Log Horizon.

The God's part was bothering me.
Btw, to help with your question. How about the dream effect? Ya know, sometimes when wake up, we immedietly forget what we had just dreamed about in out sleep.
The God's part was not believeable enough in my view.

There would be ALWAYS a ceritain part of the dream that we forget and we only remember the Resume of the dream, not complete dream.
For me, myself. There Will always be some part that lost even I write that dream as soon as i wake up

Depends on what memories were missing and how did he come up with the conclusion that some of his memories were erased.

Personally, I wouldnt make the MC freak out much if he realized that his memories were missing, because he doesn't know about what memories were lost BUT he will be in distressed undoubtedly. Instead, it's when his memories recover will he freak out.

For example, MC lost the memories of his lover; he knew that he's missing someone but doesn't know who exactly and that puts him in a precarious state of mind, without even knowing that the person he's missing was the person he coldly brushed off countless of times. However, when his memory recovered, he obviously remembered his lover who was always beside him the all time but he kept pushing her away, so obviously he would be distressed and try to find her but unfortunately, it's too late... for she has moved on. Something like that I guess.

In the context that something removed those memories of him, I'd say he feels disgusted and violated that a part of him was taken. Whenever he tries to grasp it's details to no avail, he feels helpless and angry that something is altering his own brain. If not even the gods know, then who can? He is scared that it would be taken away again, any precious memories he has. Do note that I don't know the actual nuances of this story. Anyways, I think when the realizations of the aforementioned come to the MC, a panic attack would be normal and not fake-ish. As K5Rakitan said, search up actual panic attacks and see what you think is best.

Here are my 2 cents. (I don't write.)

In a nutshell, most of his lost memories were game-related, as in the strongest spells, his favourite __, and the antagonists

Lmao, when someone gets reincarnated more or less their memories get erased.
Of course, it's believable, but I'm not sure about the 'gods' part...
