Random anime sequels?

Pretty slow news day today, but this suddenly got a season 2 out of nowhere.

Which brings me to ask the question. Which are the most random-ass "season 2 announcements" that you have ever seen? Perhaps the first season's done after a decade. Perhaps no one cared enough. But it suddenly got a second season.

Besides this, I also think the KimiSen season 2 announcement back was also so sudden and unexpected. At least Classroom of the Elite had people clamoring for it, so even if it was almost a decade old, the announcement of a sequel did not surprise me that much.

i think in another world with my smartphone season 1 came in 2019
but it was a good show, though not on the bright side, i mean the pass time and jokes
i will be looking forward to season2 because i have already read the full light novel and the story gets great in later volumes and then again it becomes boring because things starts to repeat.
like the author never got a new idea except for the mc trying to solve the world problems just because everywhere he went he got a wife betrothed to himself

MAHOUTSUKAI REIMEIKI​

Sequel to grimoire of zero that came out in 2017. Back then I had two of my wisdom teeth removed and watched it to kill time. Now that I got my last wisdom tooth removed, the sequel came out after 5 years.

it's not random at all, it's usually the amount of time it takes to produce 2nd season unless it's split cour and 2nd season was planned for the future. Shield Hero, which is ongoing now, also got a season 2 after 3 years. Made in Abyss is going to get a season 2 after 5 years. And don't get me started on upcoming Madoka Magicka movie, trust me, you don't wanna hear it.

you don't need "people" begging for season 2 to get season 2, most of the time it's a matter of what source material is available and if the producer thinks they can earn money of it.

I watched all of it. At least before Diva. I think I enjoyed the final season the most.

That's also around the time I got into the actual game, so Lostorage Conflated really has a place in my heart. Iona's my favorite, so I played a Yuki deck in the actual game.

Maybe I just underestimated Smartphone's popularity. Western regions seem to hate the series with a passion, and here in Asia, the attitude is more apathetic. Even on social media, it feels like that.

Meanwhile, the other series are quite popular. Shield Hero's one of the more hyped Isekai's out there even when it's just a webnovel. Everyone had praises for Made in Abyss and Madoka.

I'm just glad that the devil is a part timer is getting a second season after 9 years. Steins;Gate 0 took them 8 years to release. Some anime just gets thought of at the last moment.

Higurashi was an AMAZING anime, don't get me wrong. But I was quite surprised when out of nowhere gou and sotsu rolled out. Now hoping they will also redo (at best) continue (well this time) umineko

Overlord was one of the first anime I watched after I finally got reliable internet access. I was pretty surprised when the second and third seasons finally came out at the height of my anime partaking. I was also extremely disappointed that they destroyed everything I liked about the show, but whatever.

Speaking of bad sequels, I admit I was caught off guard by the announcement of a new Star Wars after the prequals.
