A rookie author here. Basically just starting off my writing journey so I decided to create a magic system I've constructed with my terrible imagination for my first ln. Soooo... Can someone please tell me if it is good or just stupid? (or just too generic)
Aight so for the basics, Mana is everywhere around the air. The people are born with the ability to manipulate the mana around them using the help of these invisible spirits. The spirit of each person is decided as soon as they're born. And the way they use this is they must have enough 'concentration' Ie: To focus their mind on the spell casting and forget about the rest. Oh, the spirits rarely make an appearance as they need to stay hidden. And they don't have that much intelligence in the first place.
And now, the elemental shit.
So, each person is born with their own spirit. And these spirits each are made up of certain basic elements. Air. Water. Fire. nature. And sky (the divine power in my ln) And, the more you use your abilities, the better you get at them. After they've reached a certain level, their elements mutate to better suit the user. (however, these diff forms will still be similar to the main one.) Oh and you cannot use more than one element at a time. No exceptions. (Other than the gods themselves) As for the ‘sky’ element. It basically is borrowing power from the sky. Like causing rain, thunderstrikes, And stuff like that. (No. No healing magic. That's part of the element less and requires the caster to know medical science of the world.) Oh, and just like the sky.
As per as how magic is cast, for a certain amount of time, it's with the help of runes. Runes are basically mana manipulation made more simple after years of research. So it doesn't take as much brainpower to do simple tasks by making it not as free. However, the con to that is the spells are not freely manipulatable.
And as for brain power, it’s related to how much you can handle mana manipulation without completely breaking down. The way the ‘brain power’ gets stronger is with repeated casting.
Now, as for applying the runes to weapons. Well, it is easy to do it, but hard to maintain them during a battle. And runes that don't require the caster to constantly keep moving the mana around them into it are quite advanced and hard-to-do spells. So mostly stuff like using swords, spears etc isn't particularly a fav of newcomers.
Now, even after all this, I haven't explained how moving mana works.
Basically, it's just felling the mana around you and ‘commanding’ it to move into your spells. That alone requires a lot of imagination by the caster and puts a strain on the mind.
Why do I have a feeling this is somehow similar to Benders. Like airbenders etc. I haven't even watched that show
please excuse the grammar mistakes thank you.
