I also know that Jerusalem, omitting the "Jer" for "Jew" (w's didn't exist yet), uru meant "found", and I'll get to "salem" in a second after this: Jerusalem translates into "Jewish foundation of "Salem"". Jerusalem used to be a Canaanite city and "Salem" was their god of dusk. History is interesting, truly... I want to know why you brought up Constantinople/Istanbul (which both have the same translation).

As a Christian it is my duty, and joy, to edify others of the faith. As for what it means to edify: to build up. To say something to strengthen another's faith. To remind you that you are loved by God and forgiven for your sins. Also Making people smile.
