Putin is easily the greatest statesman in the world and he rightly deserves a massive amount of respect. He is the longest ruling, democratically elected leader on the world stage. He has far more experience and is far more capable than any other politician out there. His only rival in that department being the honorable chairman Xi. I highly doubt we will see any kind of nuke exchange as long as Putin is in charge.

There are many wars currently happening around the world, and I don't even talk about all of the possible conflicts.

But what makes the current war special in my eyes is that a war like this hasn't happened in Europe for a good amount of time, and since world media is more focused on certain countries (EU, Murica, japan, etc.) most people never saw what madness other people around the world were facing.

I am not political and very anti-war, but there are tons of wars going on in Africa and the Middle east. Just how many of us in here live in Libya, Ethiopia, or Iraq for example, and witness the war first or close hand.

Big powers like to screw with countries weaker than them, and Russia is a big power. Murica does that, China does that. To a smaller degree, many countries in the world's strongest 15 armies list do that.

It is just how horrible the geopolitics are and I am repeating myself, but for a long time war never came this close to the center of main media attention, to Europe.

So currently Russia and all EU nations + America are on defcon 2(which means armies are ready to fight in a least 6 hours).
BUT this doesn't mean war between them (Cuban missile crisis is the last time US in 1962 , defcon 2 and it didn't trigger war) .
Currently EU and America are constantly imposing economic sanctions on the Russia (Russians citizens are getting caught in the crossfire).

Don't worry, the conflict won't escalate into a full-blown World War as long as any irresponsible outside parties don't interfere. The current situation is 2014 2 in a nutshell, only more covered by the media. Internet isn't as widespread back then. Misinformation and hoaxes aren't as prominent as today.

facebook is heavily monitored by the government (and whatsapp by extension)
a couple of years ago if you're searched and they found telegram on your phone, you would be automatically taken away. now it's fine since it blew up due to movie and tv shows piracy.
