Yiisssss...Shield Bro, the granddaddy of revenge isekai.

Well, do correct me if I'm wrong but, here are my observations:

Mushoku Tensei is the one who started the smutty isekai (the good kind).
While SAO started the 'trap in game' isekai, Log Horizon is the better one.
And Zero no Tsukaima started the 'modern' isekai. Like there are other animes and manga before that have similar elements, but ZnT started the very definition of isekai we have now. If I remember, there are a lot of isekai authors nowadays who are influenced by that LN.

I've long since given up on finding good isekai to read. If a good one comes along, I'll acknowledge it. Other than that, isekai to me is basically like porn, just without the jacking off. It's got decent women and wish fulfillment. It's literally the McDonald's of literature.

Well, I'm not going to debate you with ZNT and MT (because I know where I stand) but here's the thing:

Didn't the princess bitch get slaughtered (or executed) brutally in Shield Bro? Or is the anime different from the webnovel?

Well sometimes its not easy to develop everything quickly, this is why slice of life is good. Also a lot of people tend to call anything wihtout two or more people fighting to death as "slice of life" meaning that anything that doesnt have dbz levels of battle is just boring slice of life. Isekai is not defined by action scenes, it is defined by going to another world and expereincing a new life. I for once always self insert the fuck out of my stories because that's how you enjoy writing them the best, calling it a bad thing is stupid, especially because i bet 99% of all authors here would agree with me
