Writing Prompt What if an intergalactic empire makes a fantasy world, just cause they can)

Welcome to another one of my writing prompts: a place where I come to totally not steal other people's ideas.

Do sci-fi writers even exist on the forum?

So basically, a k2-k3 civilization decides that fantasy novels and hyperrealistic simulations in Matrioshka brains aren't enough and they want the high fantasy world with dragons and shit in the "real" material plane.

I'll leave it a little open-ended but I'll lay down some parameters of this "fantasy world"

1. The predominant "magic"-casting races must be humanoid. So no giant flying whales with death beams attached that rule the world. They should also have some sort of civilization that can be called a state.

2. Sufficiently mystical creatures such as the aforementioned giant flying whales with lasers attached must exist.

3. The terrain/atmosphere should at least be more "fantastical" than our earth.

4. All the races should be unaware that they are made by a hyper-advanced civilization, at least for a while.




So they set out and find a planet with no life, but the solar system's conditions are very similar to our earth a few billion years ago.

They delegate an AI who is very willing to accomplish such a pointless, potentially billion year task and give it a small loan of about an O class star's worth of energy and materials to do the job.

So how do y'all think they would go about making the world and it's inhabitants seem apparently "fantastical" to lower-tech civilizations? Also, it's interesting to think about how the "fantasy world" would react to knowing they were created for shits and giggles.

I encourage hard sci-fi to be used(since that's more interesting), but soft sci-fi works too.

There is a lot, but basically, the fantasy world wasn't fantasy at all. It was a part of a humongous spaceship that was transferring the created lifeforms to the designated planets. However, people degraded and started regarding high-tech stuff as magic. So, for example, a spell chain lightning is actually a mage manipulating the system unknowingly. Archangels and angels are cyborgs, and so on. In Might and Magic 6 you control a party of adventurers who eventually discovers that their world isn't medieval fantasy.

The inhabitants of those artificial fantasy worlds wouldn't really know they were created if there are no clues/hints to their creation.

They'll just think its a part of the natural order of the world like the flying whale with laser cannons or railguns attached to it.

Only outliers/reincarnated can notice those differences/inconsistency in the world.

That depends on how it was constructed I guess. If their science advances enough and they try to figure out evolution and shit. They will know something is very off.

Because Heroes of Might and Magic 3 had less worldbuilding than Might and Magic VI: The Mandate of Heaven? I'm not sure.

An intergalactic empire would be far more interesting in and of itself rather than a fantasy story though. There are so many potential ways to build that world.
And I am pretty sure that an intergalactic empire wouldn't have nearly the same image of fantasy that we do today, since their lifestyles would be unimaginable to us primates.

It would be WDYMADAG, but it is also the case for Return of the Last First Lord. I need to finish that one, as other than a few advanced ruins (That temple they visit) you don't see much from the race that created the world. Not yet anyway.

Well if I were to write that, it would just be the daily lives of some hyperadvanced species that live in rotating habitats around quadrillions of red dwarves. There'd be very little conflict aside from entropy tbh, and I'm not too good at writing social issues. Yes I watched too much Isaac Arthur.

Given the sheer scale of such a civ, it could just be a weekend project of some guy interested in a very specific niche of an ancient planet's culture.

Refer to #2, flying whales with death beams can exist, they just have to be gentle with the puny humanoids.
