Depends on the story, if it actually drives the story, I might keep reading the story if its "off camera". If it is on camera and I do not feel it drives the story, I tend to drop the story; otherwise if it drives the story appropriately in my mind I will gloss over that section real quick otherwise.

As an aside most tentacle smut is a big turn off for me even when consensual, though the writer of Blue Core did an amazing job of it in my mind.

If its pure hentai... like... for example... the creatures spew addictive mind altering aphrodisiacs from their "definitely not cocks", that turn their victims into horny, super eager, happy happy cock worshippers, and there are no traumatized, suicidal, etc, victims angsting about it... then its fine...

If its intended to establish the "badness" of the bad guys... like in goblin slayer for example... then a more realistic, traumatizing depictions can be fine too... As long as it don't get too graphic, and the story don't focus on it too much, just doing whats needed to "establish" the setting or creatures... it should be ok... but I don't want to read too angsty stories...

Mixing the two... not a good idea...

In actual stories? If 3rd parties are being raped, it can serve as a way of depicting how evil and vile the monster is, such as how Goblin Slayer did it.

If the MC is being raped, then it serves as a source of trauma. It's as good as any other source of trauma, for as long as the author properly works with depicting it as a trauma.

If the MC is the fantasy creature and starts raping random adventurers... Then I'm dropping the story.

Perhaps because to a lot of people, it makes them seem a bit more 'disgusting'? I personally find it a bit overused too to the point where it no longer feels that way to me as it did when I was new to this stuff now when I read orcs or goblins or whatever raping someone in a ln or manga or whatever I just think it's "Just orcs doing orcs stuff. nothing special."

It's typically overused and boring. It mainly depends on how the author writes it to be. Like in goblin slayer they made it gross and actually disgusting.

But on the other hand, if the author writes it every single chapter then it's a meh.

I will sum up my thoughts about it.

It's a total 50/50 for me. Yes, its fucked up and I do not like it since 9/10 novels that I read, the mc is being cucked. However, if its a revenge story... 100% would read it.

Rape in novels is aight, I guess.
