Is it ok to write a story where the main character is suicidal?

What the title says. I'm not going to actually have the main character commit suicide, but the character being suicidal is going to be used to explain a lot of their actions that differ from the norm.

Sure it is. Most of the more dumb characters are pretty suicidal in how they behave.

Sometimes the depressive ones ARE horny man-children (looking at you Rudy Greyrat.

I have no idea why the "look at me I'm so alpha crowd likes you, I suspect it's because they equate the availability of vaginas ((of any shade or age apparently (((yikes))) )) and an aggressive display of desire for them with some kind of virtue they're supposed to aim for, or rather "virtue" in the same manner that certain ultra traditional Western Evangelical marriages turned women into subservient meat poppets cowed into dispensing their bodies, wills, and autonomy in direct contradiction of actual doctrine. If someone can be called an abusive manipulative bully they'll pin a damn medal ? to their chest but if they lose a few fights, or talk about their feelings or if "their" woman has goals that get placed over their own without getting sex out of it they're suddenly whimpy beta cucks, I could go on but this parenthetical tangent is getting rather long in the tooth, about as long as these crap writers SWEAR their protagonists' sausages are and feel the need to have every woman scream about as if oversized phalluses don't actually hurt them more often then not)

if it's moral issue or you afraid of giving bad influence, then you should be fine. especially nowadays where there's lots of satire media going viral taking a topic that considered taboo a decade ago.

but if you're having difficulties in depicting the main character mental state, that's another topic entirely.

I mean, this is just me. but I found it a major turn off if there's a novel/manga depicting a character quirk incorrectly. no matter how good the plot is. especially if the depicted character are the main character.

like how some novels depicting a character that having autism, cerebral palsy, psychopath, etc are actually depicting them very incorrectly.

May not apply to people plagued by suicidal ideation/depression, it affects people in as many ways as there are people.

I guess the issue would be making light of it in the narrative, even if it's okay for the charecters to make light of themselves, or failing to "sell" their mental state.

And how do you sell it? With stereotypical stuff? Atypical, personal stuff that people might call out because it doesn't fit the stereotype?

It's gonna be messy either way.

Nah I was just concerned if the site allowed it because some places will have the most fucked up shit but draw the line at suicide for some reason. I'm basing it on my past self as well so while people without my mental state might not understand it as well, I should be able to depict exactly why this mental state can lead to suicide.

SH does prohibit works that encourage suicide. As long as you make it clear that it's a bad thing, and maybe throw up a disclaimer/content warning/support link. Though that isn't necessary.
