I do see a lot of novels with some interesting idea's and potentials. But there are also a lot that is basically the same as other novels.
What do you guys think are the most underrated idea for a novel?

Must it be a new idea? Don't get me wrong, I do like new ideas but I've found that many 'new ideas' simply aren't popular. People LIKE the common tropes, they gravitate to them. If something is too new or different, a lot of readers seem to resist. It's a special breed that seeks out new ideas. For the most part, people want oldies but with a twist. Kinda like how the movie Avatar is basically Pocahontas in space.

Thinking about this actually is what inspired me to write one my novels. During a podcast I was watching people were talking about superpowers with no limitations and it surprised me how nobody said anything about being able to create anything. So many opportunities for loopholes. Eventually i decided to make my own story about it because while I can find OP protagonists who can do anything with magic, I can never find protagonists who just actually have a unique OP ability.

an old grandma getting summoned as a hero in another world, but she gets no cheats or anything and she is very stubborn about getting back to Earth to feed her grandchildren because they're too thin!

I believe those isekais where MC goes into administration or management are. I don't mean the ones where MC is like, "I want to open an orphanage, it just so happens that the bigger my orphanage is, the stronger I get"

Kinda like that Demon Lord story which taught us economics, or Tanya the Evil, which while also was action, showed a lot of tactics in it's LN.

One book people reccomend me a lot is, Prince wants to sell his kingdom, but that's just plain action with smart stuff happening off screen. You can enjoy it if you like Sherlock type novels,

Another is Overlord, whose tactics are purely based on luck, hence to add some humor.

If you can handle dumb logic, like just pretend that everyone else other than MC is stupid, Reincarnated as a genius is the closest one that's pure administration and smart work.
Using second person.
I actually have been planning to write a rom com using that, the MC is basically a mob character who watches a girl trying her best to confess to the boy she likes, however....I'm bad at romance

An isekai where the MC learns to appreciate the time they had on earth. Basically the opposite of escapism.
Interesting one

Yeah I don't think new ideas are pretty popular. People stick to what is popular now and its hard to get them to move on

Ahem. Oh wait, underrated, not underused.
Uhhhh.:sweating_profusely:

Crap, searching by ratings just shows NTR and K5Rakitan. :sweating_profusely::sweating_profusely::sweating_profusely: And BL and Fanfiction as well...

This question is harder than it looks. I guess I'll vote for competent but not OP Protagonists?

yeah, i agree with above.

NTR genre is underrated idea.

imagine a story when you're a common male protagonist falling in love with this girl, then this girl saying to you that she love someone else, a cool boy from another class. and asking you to be her wingman. and MC can't help but comply because he's too wuss to lash at her because not liking him instead.

reluctantly, MC forced to help her and thing actually worked out by coincidence. and every single time. the girl would happily report to the MC all the progress she made with the guy with beaming eye, like holding hands, kissing, etc.

it's underrated for sure.

would people read it? ofc not.

This sounds vaguely familiar, actually. Literally searching for Wingman is probably the best bet.
