Is it harder to get reviews on SH than other platforms?

Not gonna lie. I was desperate to get a review for my story. Then realized this thread.
I saw posts for review swaps, pleas, and reviewer promotions.
Then I realized SH stories have far fewer reviews than for example RR stories.
My story is new and it has not started to cover all the tags yet. Still, I would have appreciated reviews out of curiosity.
Then while reading the thread again I realized there are many people just reviewing here but not on the store review page. There are even people that send reviews as direct messages.
So I assume, as long as the story is something really brilliant or controversial the community refrains from writing reviews instead of writing bad ones.
Alas, maybe you are just lazy like me. I too haven't written any comments yet ?

I am a bit dubious about this one-sided kindness, otherwise, it is a matter of interest why someone act with hospitality. Then again, my question is towards the OP. I do not have interest in your answer. Let me correct you. Reviews concerning a story isn't about mentality, it is for improvement. People who acts with feelings than reflection is their problem. This is a site with no expenses, therefore, people can choose to help. That is all.

This is exactly what I am talking about. My story is fine for now. It doesn't need any reviews for at least 15+ chapters. But you have already explained your reasoning in your second answer.

I am too lazy to review 4-5 star novels, and while I have the motivation to write 1-3 star reviews I'd rather not put that on someone's page.
I don't have any reviews either but I don't mind, I'd rather have no reviews than a bad one.
I have readers than comment on all my chapters, enough to reach top 10 or top 20 in the activity novel ranking and relatively many favorites (I think), that alone shows me that my story is liked enough to be worth to be continued. Sure, a nice review would be cool, but I'm emotionally unstable so I'd rather not lose my motivation over a 1 star review... And I don't want to do the same to others even if I have many things to nag on.

You have my vote. No reviews are better than bad ones. But you are also a prime example. I can't believe you have so many comments but no reviews.

I prefer a motivation and reader's opinion in latest chapter comment rather than review.
Why? Because the reviewer often review the novel after reading only a few chapters.

At least you got some comments, I've been struggling to get some feedback, up until now, only one guy actually took his time to read and comment, I feel like I'm writing only for his one specific person, it feels weird. :(

Anyway, hope I get lucky soon and some other people start taking an interest in my novel. I mean, I got 2K views but so few comments

Dude, you have only 6 chapters. How exactly do you expect people to review it? Any review you get now will be either inaccurate of fraudulent as you post more chapters later. Write more before you ask for reviews. There are many people who love giving reviews, the problem is they can't get the feel of your story yet to give a review.

In RR, you get more review at lower amounts of chapters because of entitled assholes who think that the moment you write something they don't like, they have the right to pound your story to the ground. That is not the same here. Most people here have a wait and see attitude. If they like your story, they will wait to see if you self-destruct within the next 10 chapters. If they don't like your story, they give you a chance until they know they don't like your story and just leave.

So Ai-chan's suggestion is just to keep writing. Eventually someone will feel strongly enough to give a review. For the time being, just be happy that you get chapterly comments. Or you could just finish your story. Surely you would get reviews after that.

I know it is still early for my story. And yes. RR is filled with idiots that give 1 star rating on 1 chapter stories. But check the thread. For example this buddy here.

I just can't understand why does his story got no reviews while having 10+ comments on each chapter. Good reviews can really help and people can just edit it later if the story gets beter or worse.

Yeah, like was mentioned, practically no review swap culture here. RR people are also more vocal. I find that many readers here at SH are just chill silent readers. (Just based on my own experience) a way bigger percentage of readers at RR are willing to write reviews compared here. Yes, there are many who write critical reviews at RR, but on the flip side, if you got a supportive fanbase, they'll willingly write lengthy reviews in support of the story.

While RR has a reputation for people who don't like your story giving very low score reviews, there are way more readers who take the time to review if they like something. And they're not even pushed to do so like the system in Webnovels for example. RR has become very strict recently with negative reviews that mods will delete something that even remotely looks like a troll review. Which means, the more recent negative reviews over there have a higher likelihood to be more valid.

I suppose it needs to be clarified if you want just feel-good reviews, or you accept both good and bad. SH reviews are very, very, very rarely critical.
