Hey everyone, Ai-chan wants to ask your opinion on something.

So you see, Ai-chan has this story, been sitting on the backburner for a couple of years now. It was originally meant for a horror game, but the problem with graphics were never solved, so although much of the details were already prepared, the game could not be made. So Ai-chan thought, "Ehhh, let's get some enthusiasm going first." And maybe get some funding. Cough!

Well, anyway, the story goes like this. A bunch of high schoolers came to an abandoned school in the middle of the forest. Since they separated in middle school, they have not been able to meet much for the past few years. When they did meet, they thought to relive old habits of exploring abandoned places together. But since they are now older and bigger now, they want to explore the old school deep in the forest that the adults always stopped them from going before. Obviously as a bunch of dumb kids with more interest for fun than brains, they all eventually agreed to go.

But the school is not just any school. It is haunted and many people supposedly went missing in the past. It was closed over 50 years ago during an incident where over 50 teachers and students were found dead. As they explored the school, they were separated into different dimensions, forcing them to explore the same school alone until they managed to chant the Spell for Meeting Again (再び会うためのおまじない) that they once chanted when they separated in middle school when the wall between dimensions become weaker and they can see each other again. How to thin the walls? By solving regrets of certain ghosts. Until they all gather together again, they can't leave the school. There is another way to leave, but let's just keep that as spoiler.

Now that the exposition is done, Ai-chan wants all of you to choose for Ai-chan. Who will be the protagonist of this story. In the game, you can choose which character you want to play, but Ai-chan can't write from all POV, so you guys will choose. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. If you want to explain why you'd choose that character, that would be very welcomed.

A little explanation on the stats:
Health - Character's general health and is reduced when taking physical wounds. The character dies when it runs out. Health can only be replenished by food and Blood of the Girl Who Slit Her Throat. Bleeding can cause Health to continue to decline and requires a bandage to be applied until the Bleeding status is gone.
Spirit - Character's spirit or willpower and is reduced when touched by ghosts even when the ghosts are invisible. The character gets possessed by random ghosts if they run out of spirit at any given time. It is replenished quickly by being in holy places, such as Shrine of the Dead God or by drinking Holy Water of the Fountain of the Dead God.
Sanity - Character's sanity and is reduced as they come across horrifying scenes or monster skills or through events. Character commits suicide if it runs out. Sanity recovers slowly by default but will not recover while the player is running.

The Characters

1. Nakagawa Haruki (the athlete)
Gender: Male

Stats
Health: 130
Spirits: 80
Sanity: 100 r.1/minute

Abilities
1. Build barricades using furniture and scraps
2. Kick items and monsters

As ally
-- While alive: Will always block any attacks aimed at the player, taking the player's place

As enemy
-- After dead: Will always stay besides the player, telling the player how useless the player is and how he always had to be there to protect him/her, deal 3 Sanity damage per minute, which means most characters will lose the game within 100 minutes. Can't be exorcised.
-- How to counter: The Psychopath is not affected due to his higher Sanity max and Sanity recovery. Some items such as The Price of Silence can render The Athlete's grudge mute. Some events recover Sanity. Picture of A Loved One can recover Sanity but causes 5-seconds stun and there may be events where the protagonist's loved ones appear to persuade the protagonist to surrender.

2. Shirakawa Mio (the miko)
Gender: Female

Stats
Health: 80
Spirit: 130
Sanity: 100 r.1

Abilities
1. Can craft talismans by expending Spirit
2. Can meditate to recover spirit, causes a long stun time on the player. Meditation causes 5 seconds stun when initiated for a flat 10 Spirit recovery

As ally
-- While alive: Will repel ghosts and spirits that comes close every time her repel countdown ends

As enemy
-- After death: Will constantly agitate ghosts and spirits near the player and may even summon monsters to attack the player from time to time.
-- How to counter: The Athlete can kick monsters sent by The Miko, but can't do anything against the other spirits and ghosts agitated by The Miko. The Medium can persuade The Miko to see reason and make The Miko cancel her summoning. The Psychopath can push The Miko away.

3. Hayashi Hatsumi (the medium)
Gender: Female

Stats
Health: 110
Spirit: 80
Sanity: 120 r.2

Abilities
1. Able to see ghosts and spirits regardless of items or weather condition
2. Speak action is more powerful, giving 4 instead of the usual 2 increase in enemy Sanity

As ally
-- While alive: Will speak to ghosts, slowing their movements and sometimes stunning them.

As enemy
-- After dead: Will randomly appear every 5-30 minutes to push the player down before disappearing again. Every time the player falls, the player is disarmed and all items equipped on the player's hands will drop to the floor in random directions. Cursed items such as The Eyes of the Child Who Saw The Truth of the World can't be disarmed.
-- How to counter: The Miko can exorcise The Medium temporarily whenever she appears, dealing a stackable damage that will increase the time will she appear to its maximum timing (30 minutes). The Psychopath can push her away with correct timing, but it is difficult since she appears suddenly without warning. The item The Scarf That Hanged The Princess can negate disarming at the price of Health.

4. Enomoto Ken (the hunter)
Gender: Male

Stats
Health: 110
Spirit: 90
Sanity: 90 r.1

Abilities
1. Able to see all traps, avoid all traps and can build basic traps
2. 100% stuns monsters for 4 seconds whenever a thrown weapon hits

As ally
-- While alive: Will stun one monster for 2 seconds, effectively negating all monster threat. Speed of attacks are fast, making it possible for The Hunter to help by neutralizing 2 monsters at all times

As enemy
-- After dead: His appearance is just an illusion that does nothing. Instead, the place he stands on before disappearing will have a trap placed there. It is possible for pitfall traps to make an area completely untraversable.
-- How to counter: The Medium can persuade him, making him stay on one tile for 3 times the length and avoiding him from making additional traps before the player can pass through. All characters can disable traps given time.

5. Hirano Tsugumi (the psychopath)
Gender: Male

Stats:
Health: 100
Spirit: 70
Sanity: 140 r.5

Abilities
1. Is able to push ghosts away with any weapon, even barehanded
2. Has a stronger Shake action that blows away all ghosts and spirits (but not damage them)

As ally
-- While alive: Will laugh while blasting away all nearby ghosts, effectively rendering ghost threats non-existent

As enemy
-- After dead: Will appear in random from the walls or the grounds, scratching the player, dealing randomized Health damage that causes bleeding.
-- How to overcome: The Athlete can parry his attacks, receiving 1/10 of the damage he would normally receive. The Miko can exorcise him temporarily but receives Spirit damage instead. The Medium can sense him coming and jump away unhurt if the timing is right.

Common enemies:
1. Ghosts are the most common enemies and are usually invisible. Even while invisible, they can still reduce player's Spirit if they touch player's body. Can be seen using Lanterns (short-range visibility), The Eyes of the Child Who Saw The Truth of the World (permanent visibility) or by waiting for thunderstorms to illuminate them.
2. Monsters are various shaped evil creatures that spilled into this world from a hellish realm lured by the many deaths and murders in the school. Normally they can't be defeated except through the use of certain cursed items.

The Psychopath. Health and spirit are one thing, but if my character is going to commit die right under the monster’s noses, then I’ll be damned. I just feel a bit tempted to choose The Medium though.

The medium and the Hunter sound the most protag-like to me. The Athlete and the Psychopath seem too much like side characters. As for the Miko, it could be protag material, but I still put her to the side.

The hunter would be great if you can make a good background of him hunting dangerous beasts and is the only here with great survability which can make great scenes filled with some twists and tension.

You can make comparasion between thr beasts and the monsters that could affect the reader depending on how well the background is done.

The rest are quite interesting for the same reason, those with experience in dealing with ghost can add a lot to the scenes and provide great help when the other characters are lost.

Ai-chan has made a change to the poll. You may now choose 2. Thanks for the comment. Ai-chan will probably choose the comments over the actual polls.

Look up what groups use "based" and "sigma male" and then sum up the genders of your options.

Screw you guys! Ai-chan will not write an edgy, boring character as the psychopath. Ai-chan has decided to write about the one with the biggest vote, which is the medium. Thanks for everyone who decided things.

Though to be honest, Ai-chan is actually more partial to The Miko, but it's cool.

I, too, like corpse party
Yes, it was inspired by Corpse Party but wasn't made on RPG Maker. It's made on GDevelop. It's also isometric.
