Not tryna throw shade on redo of healer, just felt like the best way to describe what I'm looking form

Just wondering, is there a story where the MC's past life has been all about revenge on their enemies and humiliating them in the worst way possible but in the end they regret it and decide to show love and kindness(not the stupid type) instead to try and set things straight?

If not, well fuck it I'll do it myself.

Reminds me of Book from Firefly, and a comment about a character from a game on another thread.

As far as books, the only thing I can think of is a part of Azarinth Healer. That story took a temporary turn like a third of the way through into a heavy 'revenge sucks' theme. The MC never really goes redo-of-healer and doesn't even really regret the bad things she did, so it doesn't fully fit the question either.

As such, write it yourself.

Redo of healer got a side manga featuring the mc forgetting about his revenge and gets reborn in an alternate world with all heroes being good people. He opens a coffee shop and..I.....I'm...

I read the first chapter and it felt like an entirely different story with the same looking characters.

Good evening. I'm new in this forums' section. So, first of all, how would you define "Anti-" in here? since this made me curious enough to ask. Thank you.

@WelcomeToSH Lots of newbie friendly info on that link, though it's not related to this discussion.

but in the end they regret it and decide to show love and kindness
I think this is the 'Anti' part. Just the opposite of the original material. Though if you have an example that isn't perfectly in line with that, go ahead and throw it out there.

Get that you're not trying to rag on the series, but bringing up the title, I just feel compelled to point out something interesting about Redo of Healer.

More specifically, I think Redo of Healer, together with World's Finest Assassin Reincarnates as an Aristocrat (a 2nd work by the same author) serve to prove an interesting point that anyone who has been paying attention has been aware of for a while.

Some of the absolute most masterful works ever written are the ones that manage to strike a perfect balance between acknowledging the ugly side of the world (as well as the not so ugly but we are still embarrassed to talk about side of the world) but not overly dwelling on those things and making the story all about "that stuff."

The thing is, when it comes to striking that balance, it is almost impossible to approach that perfect balance from the "safe side." The only way to ever strike that balance perfectly the way "World's Finest Assassin" does is to start from a point that goes WAY past that line like Redo of Healer does, and then tone it way down for one of your later works.

EDIT: Actually, come to think of it, while "World's Finest Assassin" does not perfectly fit what you are asking for, it does come kinda close. The guy spent his previous life as an assassin who was just a tool of the syndicate, and he spends his new life with a mission to be an assassin again, but this time he is going about it with a drive to be his own person and not just a tool. This actually does wind up meaning that he tries to approach the world with a lot more kindness.

So, yeah. Maybe not quite as fluffy as what you're asking for, but it is close and it is also literally by the exact same author.

Basically, "the opposite of". Not really different from using it outside of the forum.

I actually know about "The World's Finest Assassin" and the fact that it's made by the author, I quite like it in fact. Heard them mention it in an interview. That's why if I don't really like a work, it's no reason to hate the author.

And that's not really that close for me. Sides, there are a lot of reincarnated assassin stories there(albeit the one you mentioned is better than most).

It's an interesting thing you mentioned. Considering one type of story I want to make in the future features an MC who believes everyone has a chance to be redeemed in a grimdark world with eldritch horrors. I may have to go and test the waters with the opposite side of the extreme. "anti-redo of healer" might be good for that

Uhh, do you mean this story?

Is the synopsis a bait and he changes his mind halfway? Cause from the synopsis this is a revenge story, opposite of what I want.

Ok
White mage's restart.png

Not exactly proud of this, At least I got the smug anime girl in the cover. Funny how I was looking for character generator that didn't look like waifulabs but ended up doing it anyways. if only i figured out how to use crpko.ai...
Now time to make a synopsis to bait people into thinking its just genderbent redo of healer. Though honestly, considering scribblehub they might want that.

yeah, that one.

I mean, you said you want something that started with revenge driven. so i imagine something like legend of shield hero

the whole thing are start from mc being anti-hero, not totally down bad like redo healer yet totally revenge driven, but he'll gradually easing up the more he meet strangers and start questioning his own life choice.

the pacing is waaay too slow if you want to read about him start trying to do good deeds though, just imagine the MC as someone who is a tsundere that actually wanted to torture people who make him suffer in the past, but never allowing any collateral damage towards those who uninvolved and trying to be gentle with them.
and i said tsundere because he's totally acting out like a bad guy despite trying to save many innocent people as much as possible.

you can start with the manga if you wanted a quick check.

Actually, I was looking for something with a revenge-driven background but a kindness/good deed driven plot. As for shield hero, well Naofumi didn't go full edge but he was still driven by revenge for a good portion. I also don't really like the fact you put tsundere and torture in the same sentence. Anyways, thanks for the recommendation.

That's... The exact opposite of what I was looking for. Also I searched it up and it just showed a furry mmo?
That story about a noble in the beastman only world... how about The Death Mage Who Doesn’t Want a Fourth Time(nu)?

Ah, now that's actually what I'm looking for. Though from the reviews it seems it's less "revenge sucks" rather than the author didn't plan it out. But eh, best to read it anyways.
