I want to hear the reason for liking a certain genre

Fantasy: it lets me escape the mundanity of real life, and I also love magics and fantastical creatures.

Action: It’s exciting!

Adventure: It makes me want to set sail and go find One Piece.

Comedy: It makes me laugh and get me in a good mood. Basically makes my day.

Ecchi: It makes me feel itchy, if you know what I mean~ ?

Gender Bender: It makes me experience life in a perspective of a different gender.

Girls Love: I love lesbians se- *ahem* I mean the beautiful love between girls~

Harem: Ever felt frustrated when the mc have to choose only one girl and break the others’ hearts? Here’s the solution.

Isekai: Similar to fantasy, but mostly because it has cheat in it. And when you have cheat, your life becomes a whole lot easier~

Unconditional means no matter have happens you will be there for them. Will you be there if they fuck your life? Even if it was a mistake. Most people will draw the line somewhere.

This is why unconditional doesn't exist. It is a fantasy people will strive for though. But everyone has a line the other must not cross.

And in romance that line seems to be shorter than familiar.

I'm not really looking at certain genre and more towards a certain atmosphere.

LitRPG, Action, Adventure, Fantasy, Harem - if I want to have something to read without thinking too much about it. Just a little timewaster to entertain me for a few chapters in the train or whatever. More or less the feeling of the "typical japanese light novel". Which is also what most webnovels tend to go for...

Drama, Psychological, Sci-Fi, ((serious) Fantasy), Thriller - often something I look for when I want to sit down and read for hours and get really absorbed into it. Where my thoughts are more focused on the story and the books. There are also some light novels/webnovels with that feeling, but it's often more traditional publishing that fits the feeling. Professional editing can also make a world of difference.


There aren't really any genres I pick for a certain reason. It's more that most stories of a certain genre will go for the same vibe...

I love reverse harem because I'm polyamorous with a husband and two boyfriends (three if you count the dead one) and I haven't seen my boyfriends in person since the pandemic started. I write about what makes me happy, and reading about similar situations also makes me happy.

I like harems because there's a higher chance of eventually finding a waifu character that I'll keep reading the novel for. I also enjoy seeing the protagonist deal with different personalities or how the girls' dynamic with each other develop.

I like fantasy, both high and low, because I grew up loving Tolkein stories and Warcraft as a child and want to read something like that (for high fantasy) or enjoy a lot of anime in that genre, especially the "slightly in the future" settings where soft science fiction and spirituality/magic cross, like the titles mentioned in my sig. (for low fantasy)

For me i really like psychology mystery and betrayal etc... It's like laying bare a bad side of humanity, plus seeing how the mc deals with such situations keeps me on reading.
I also really diff povs like i want to see why they did that it's fun seing the world from multiple perspective.

Fantasy could be anything. Like epic quest and adventure. Not repetitive quests some stories keep going thru arc after arc journey. But something significant. Magic. Fae. Xian. I like mythology and fairytales a lot. There's always a newer generation retelling of a myths in a way that pulls readers in.

Add it with Mystery, because humans are just as curious as cats, if not more. Sometimes we don't really want to read the whole story, just find out what happened or the end result. Sometimes, the mystery is good enough that it keeps us on our toes and we continue reading the whole story.

Slice of life is relatable but often more fluffier or idealstic. Something you thought of or want to happen, and something that happens irl that resonates to you. The characters and/or the environment is relatable to the reader. Add with its often fluffy vibe makes it nice to consume.

Romance. Because who doesn't want to go into a fantasy about how romantic couples come together? I like it often paired with some comedy. Helps us swallow all the drama they throw at us.
