Ahhh a question that haunts me every day :blob_melt:
In my case I am the type of writer that needs divine inspiration to write, even if I have an idea of what the story will be like, I need to be in the mood and to listen to specific music (changes depending on the mood: if it is a sad scene it will be a certain type, if it is a romantic scene then it will be other, and so on) in order to achieve my "transmigration" (basically I need to feel like I am currently the character I am writing about otherwise I feel like the story itself becomes very shabby and shallow).
Usually, I don't write for 2/3 days and then one day I just make like 2 or 3 chapters in a row but just post them gradually. Also, I feel that not placing a big pressure on me helps (so for eg, on Scribble I am on chapter 20 but I'm currently writing chapter 33!), having this time frame to know you can relax is a way to let your creativity flow. :blob_paint:
One of my motivations is feedback, criticism, or just plain praise. One makes me feel like I still have a lot to learn and improve while the other just makes me feel like I'm not writing to the walls of my house you know?
That's basically it, stay safe! :blobtaco:

I only write when I am in the mood and after my work everyday, that mood is dead. Doesn't help when I am just as busy in the weekends as well.

Also, I am most of the time horny so my porn works are growing in size compared to the one work that I focused initially last year.

In the beginning I wrote because what I had in mind seemed cool. I think that was my motivation. I wanted to see what would happen if I wrote for a while. Afterwards I fell in love with my creation. I loved the MC and the ideas I had for the world I created. It kept me motivated. Then after a while it just stopped. My flaws eventually catched up to me and it all ground to a halt, and my dearest project got discontinued. I already have grander plans beyond orbs of darkness, that may start and be better with my new wisdom.
What motivates me when making short stories is pretty much that I have a cool idea that I want to project in text format, though I do not keep writing because I fall in love with my short stories. They are simply too short for me to "bond" with them.

Wait, I actually have motivation to write? Thats news to me....

Well, to be fair, the only time I have motivation to write is only when I'm bored or threaten to kill myself just to continue writing.

And the threaten part.... Its either that I basically go 'Wait, why do I even need to write' to 'why threaten myself to die when I'm already dead inside'..... it kinda took it over but in reverse instead.... hahahaha......

haha......

ha..... ha..... haha.....

I write when I have an idea, so while I'm doing other work, like cleaning. I try to figure out what I want to write and follow my desires. Sometimes I steer off my original idea but that's fine. You just gotta force yourself to do something for 15-30 minutes and you'll be seriously working on it for hours. Hope that helped

Are you a writer who only writes when you get in the 'writing mood,' or are you able to write consistently every day? If so, what is your inspiration, mindset, motivation?

:blob_hide:
Somedays I have motivation from the point of waking up, on others I'm so down that I can't even get a word in. But I still force myself. Why?

I want my Works to be relaxing to read(not always) and spring of motivation for those who read. From this, I want to build a community with people that enjoy life, good and bad.

A strong mindset, I don't have. But a persistent and dedicated one.

Write because you want to, you have to or simply because you're bored.
I was utterly devasted at my first 1-start rating, then the second one came(both during this month). Felt awful, but I kept going because I simply love the storytelling, the worlds you can create through a few simple words.

Why do you write?
—I enjoy it. I want to write.
What's stopping you from writing?
—Insecurities, anxiety, lack of intoxication, time constraints, etc etc.
But you want to write, yes?
—Yes.
Then write.
The more you ponder, the more get anxious.
Insecurities? Build your confidence while you improve on your writing. Also, people have told me again and again, go at my own pace. Don't compare yourself to others while writing.
Time constraints? Construct your ideas whenever you're idling.
15 minutes in the shower, 30 minutes on the train, an hour eating lunch— bring around a pen and notebook to write down key points. Thirty minutes before bed can allow it all to come together. Instead of browsing Instagram while you poop, construct your ideas, your story!
So again, what's stopping you from writing when it's simple to just get off your fat bum to buy a beer?
I'm aware that everyone has their own circumstances but I believe it's only a matter of shifting your focus.
Although, do be mindful of your priorities.

I'm like a machine, I just do the thing without thinking about it. It's starting the engine that's difficult to do.

I can write, no problem. You want a 1000 word chapter? 30 minutes later, boom it's READY! eh... rough draft... But yeah, writing is no problem. I'm actually writing a story that's just a test, an experiment., just to gather analytical data for my "real" story, so I wrote whatever came to my mind. People love it! I can't believe it, so now I gotta write it for reals, but I have nothing planned for it. No notes, no drafts, no nothing, it's all in my head. Yet, I make 2 chapters a day. Yes, you're practically reading a rough draft unless a single revision counts disqualifies it, but still, it's something I can whip up with no problem at all.

But actually starting the process of writing, I seem to need some kind of motivation. I guess one problem is that I'm trying to do this as a living so I'm constantly worrying if what I'm doing is a waste of time. The uncertainty if I'm going to keep doing it lingers in my mind, so I'm like, "what's the point of continuing if this is not going to help me in the long run?" So sometimes I gotta prep and remind myself of why I'm doing this to get started.

Depends on my mood. I am mostly depressed or horny. So being motivated to actually write something is so tiny for me. That's why I struggle on writing even though I have lots of ideas.

Writing every day gets me burned out, so I usually try to write every 2 or 3 days. Right now, I just have a ton of really cool ideas and a story outline I feel like I have to write down because of how cool I think it is. That, and I have nothing else fun to do.

There are times where I sit in front of the keyboard, unable to do anything, the music plays in the background and I barely type down a few lines. Other times, I feel a sudden inspiration and I'm able to write down several pages. The same happens when I'm trying to draw.

honestly, writing by itself is kinda boring as hell to me.

i prefer to just experience a lot of things in my mind, and just use writing to summarize everything. so most of the time, i'm just trying to find the easiest way to explain stuff.

Feedback is good!
