That was probably because I had too many... I mean, who'd want to be an isekai side character? Sure, you are transported into another world, and probably brag about how you're a side character while you live your life to the fullest. But at the end of the road, you're just a side character and all the main events and hot girls won't be coming for you.

I am not interested in harems. It is closer to just playing around and not a real stable relationship. And, of course, it is prone to interpersonal conflicts. Imagine how tiring and annoying a real harem will be.
The main character in isekai novels mostly has to fight the demon king or is betrayed for the drama of the story. Let's not even include the injuries and mental hurdles he/she needs to experience for the readers' amusement.

At the same time, being a side character in a world of sword and magic gives you plenty of opportunities. First, even if you are not the best mage or swordsman, you can still become a passable adventurer. Second, even if you don't choose this route, you can use your basic knowledge from Earth to benefit and lead a cool slow life.

Isekai's with their generic is often trashed, so I definitely don't even need to say this but, premises like time-looping, survival death game, and revenge type of isekai's are what I'd generally classify as an isekai novel. Actually, I was thinking of a modern world with 'high-tech weapons and technology-reliant-magic'... the idea is soft but isn't really overused in any way.
