Gauging what traction my Wind Waker novelization might get. If it doesn't work, I'm going to work more on my original fantasy.

Most people come here to read originals.... fanfiction.net is the place to go fpr fanfictions...
Unfortunately, I agree with this. ScribbleHub although allows both, most expected this site to be consisting of original works. So fantasy original probably gain a bit more traction if you publish it.

I recommend AO3 or Fanfiction if you wish to continue the other one.

I am publishing on fanfiction.net but it's having a hard time getting traction

How many reads?
220 something reads. You see though, I don't really give a crap about the read count. The read count may go up, but comments are what I want. Reviews. Feedback. It is difficult to obtain when everyone is here trying to promote their own work.

If you have a low read count, don't you have a low comment count?

I do, and I have author's notes at the end of chapters putting forth questions and discussion prompts - I think I just kind of chose the most niche thing to put on here. Fantasy is niche. Fanfiction in the fantasy genre is smaller, but there are only like four Zelda fanfics on this whole site.

Ngl but your threads always feel like you're worried about not getting noticed on this site.
While I feel that too, I think most important is to just stop and just post. The worries will eat you up until there's no story bone left.
I believe here people like to read more original stories. Regardless the common cliche tropes here, original work is still original works.
Although I do like reading fantasies that are not of three popular genres commonly found here, I prefer original works than fanfics.

To add on to that though, I think your story seems to be doing pretty good. More so than mine. :)
Have some little faith ?. If there's less of that specific fanfic, that means you can stand out as being more unique here ???.
Too much of the similar fanfic becomes too much of a common trope and you lose that uniqueness that brings a shine to your stories.
