Hello! I'm new to Scribble Hub and I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations of how to promote a new story? I'll be posting a chapter a day for a while, so I know that should help me stay on the 'new page' and that will help. Any other recommendations?

Thank you!

You would only be able to stay on the 'New' page for a few hours or days, depending on the other authors who'd also upload their new works. You can, however, update on a frequent basis, so that your work would be visible on the 'Latest Updates' for a few hours.

That would also help you build a reputation with the readers that you're serious about your story.

If you're looking to promote your work, making banners and posting here on forum, updating on a consistent, frequent basis, or sharing your work in social media could help as well.

Thanks for the advice!

How do you make a banner?

I've got enough backlog that I will easily be able to post daily for the next several weeks, so that will hopefully help!

Well, there are some artists here whom you can commission to make you a banner, or you could make it yourself. You just need an app like Photoshop and the size of the banner.

If you're using a desktop, you can see my banners for my story under my posts.

Try updating every other day. I think that'll help you win a spot on the trending.

Thanks! So if I get a banner, how and where do I get it to show up?

What's the difference between views and Readers?
Views can be interpreted as those who just took a look at your story's page or those who read a chapter, while readers are those who 'bookmarked' your work.

You go to your SHF profile (located at the top-right corner of your browser) > Click 'Signature' > Then put in your banner.

Also, you could put in a link in your banner. Just click your banner once you put it in your signature, then click the 'Chain' button' and put in your story's link.

Out of curiosity, why would every other day help get to trending instead of posting everyday?
Because the site records your stuff sporadically. Sometimes it's accurate. Sometimes it's not. To quell this, I suggest you post every 2-3 days. I do monthly updates so I don't know but everyone else does it and so far, it's working.

Another question:
Are review swaps a thing on SH? I've seen them on Royal Road, but other than people offering feedback, I don't see anyone talking about actually offering to review each other's work?

Are you talking about somehing like this or this?

Well people just ask in this from what I remember

But openly offering each other's work openly? Haven't seen one except for those who do it privately

Yeah, those are the feedback things I was talking about.

What I was asking if people offered to review each other's works, as in, leave a review on the work itself (like I read your story and I will give it 4.5*s or whatever) rather than just give a critique on the forum. Like a forum critique can definitely be useful for honing your craft and /maybe/ bringing some attention to your work, but I figure actual reviews and star ratings are better for promoting your work.
