there is an Insert Image button on the writing tool but i just use things like Imagebin

You can copy and paste pictures into the writing software. That’s the easiest and most direct way.

I keep mine in Stash on DeviantArt. Right click on the image and select "copy image link" or "copy image location" depending on your browser, and then copy and paste that into your thingy.
