I also prefer more detail as well.
Both as an author and a reader. Though there is also a careful balance that needs to be observed. It is very possible to have too much detail, to the point it slows the pacing too much.

As for where that balance is, I'll have to get back to you all once I've found it, unless someone else happens to find it first. If you do, I'd certainly like to know.

The balance depends on each person. Someone that wishes to experience just the plot and characters while seeing the environment as superfluous would want it cut down to speed things up.

Meanwhile, someone that want to feel like they're there in the world with the character would want as much detail as possible to ground themselves better. Which is why I made... Actually nevermind.
