Random little ideas

This is a thread for sharing the little ideas you've had that you'd like to put into a book, but haven't found the right place to stick it yet. By little, I mean random bits of worldbuilding, character quirks, or background details that wouldn't effect the plot but would make the story feel a little more "real."

An idea I had a few days ago but don't have a story to put it in yet is, what if you could put abstract concepts into food? I'm imagining a coffee shop where they brew knowledge into their coffee, specifically knowledge of recent important events. Every sip you take puts a little more of that knowledge in your head, until finish the cup and have the full story.

I had this idea when I was joking around with a coworker and I told him "Don't bother me while I'm drinking my newspaper."

Well, mine are not the little ones but I will make those short. One of my idea to put in my future novel is making the world filled with anomalies like a zombie-looking creatures and the giant beasts like the ones from Warhammer. Another one is related to Isekai cause I am putting all the agents to have supernatural powers classified as "Spirits". Also I may make things out of hands or got copyrighted because I give the technology known as "World Travelling Tech" to the main factions which is basically going to the anime worlds and yeah, you can list them. But to avoid the laws, I will make the anime worlds as the cloned universes which maybe good for me.

This is a thread for sharing the little ideas you've had that you'd like to put into a book, but haven't found the right place to stick it yet. By little, I mean random bits of worldbuilding, character quirks, or background details that wouldn't effect the plot but would make the story feel a little more "real."

Hmmm, yeah I was thinking of something similar too. But the knowledge is not inside food. But monsters.
You know, like those RPG games when you kill monster, then your INT raised?

So my MC would kill a goblin and suddenly: "Oh hey?! I understand calculus now!"

The only unbelievable thing here is that a goblin would know enough about calculus for your hero to even notice that they've learned anything.

I want to have a scene where my 1st book MC finds evidence that an old friend was reborn into a different form. The reveal would be more punchier if a character that knew them found out, but... it's just a matter of finding where in the 2nd book to fit it without mucking with the A and B plots.

Well, for some time I've been planning the funeral of a character who is very much alive, and to have it include guests from other books and maybe, if I can work up the nerve to try and contact him and get permission, the last remaining member of the Monkees...

My story is a fantasy magic smut novel starring a Cat Girl. It has plenty of intimacy, but I haven't explored any sex scenes beyond the classic.

I'm talking about the divisive smut content. Butt stuff for example. Full honesty, I'm not sure if I'll dip my toe into that because I've no clue how my audience will react to it, as well as how I would write it.

Another detail is licking. I've thought about introducing a licking kink for the main cat girl early on. This came from how cats lick themselves. But I never got around to it, instead I went for a Girls Love scene during a group sex chapter haha

There is also a deleted character for my work. Her name is Scratch, she would have been a dog girl competing with our cat girl to get the male love interests affection. If you know my work, then you'll know she sounds familiar to my Wolf Girl character, Reta. I removed Scratch and went with Reta instead because she had more to her character to offer. Scratch was fun but a one note character.

Kinks and fetishes are world building ideas for my story

Okay fine. There is a large city named Kershin Market in my Tale of Tails novel. Think of it as this big convergence of numerous races and species trafficking through with markets and businesses at every corner.

The way to enter the city is crossing a wide bridge that covers a large ravine. At the bottom of the ravine, you can see several little caves attached to the walls with several Saurion folk, described to be large bipedal reptilian humanoids.

I wanted to explore more of that place but couldn't align it to the story. One idea was that our main characters use an underground route to escape Kershin Market, and said route takes them to the Saurions settlement at the ravine. We would explore their diversity, culture, and why they're ostracized from the city. But it disrupted the flow of the narrative since there was urgency for our characters to flee, not stick around.
