I thought I was the only one! I write a fanfic and although I also write in the afternoon the ideas just hang around at night, and the worst thing is that my parents won't let me stay more than midnight on the laptop and I can never finish what I started. and writing on my cell phone is out of the question then meh, the next day i will do everything to remember my ideas from last night

I write some dark stories. Sometimes can't though, bc my mood is thinking more fluffier stories. And this can go vice versa. So its hard to write when the trail of thought or mood is different from what you initially felt like when writing a piece. Writing is a mood itself lol.

For me personally, I only really get into the writing mood at the super early hours of the morning like 1 - 3am. Idk, something about that time just send my brain into overdrive when it comes to being productive. Any other time I procrastinate like crazy.

I was going to say no to this thread, but then over the past 4 days 23:00-2:00 appears to be "the time". No idea why.
If I live in early hours, it also sometimes works to write at 4:00-6:00 (yeah, before sunset, then I go for a walk to a park for the sunset)

Not really.

The hard part for me is sitting down and writing. Then trying not to click out to watch some youtube videos lol.

Then the words just go brrrrr

yes, but i've figured out it's not a moment of When in time, but What in my brain.

basically, the less tasks/obligations i have to deal with, the more space i have mentally to write. that usually happens late at night or early in the mornings, so i just run with it. i'm also a casual writer so these random spurts of inspiration don't bother me too much.

i will give one tip if you can: get something on your phone/a notebook so you don't have to rush and open your laptop just to type those ideas down. since i put my drafts in googledocs, it's been really easy to download the app and just open that up before bed when i get inspired. sometimes it's just scribbling a few key words, or plot points i want to add in later for foreshadowing/clues/whatever, but it's reallllly helpful. i find the less steps it takes for me to get to the doc, the better i can jot down ideas before they fly away.

on the other hand, i know typing on the phone screen can be a pain, but it's also a kind of training as well: it forces you to choose your words wisely and type what matters in that small, confined space, and it's a different medium/visual to let you view your writing in a new light. one of my favorite fanfic authors has actually published entire works she calls "phonefics" written strictly from her phone because she spends so much time commuting between home and work to take her laptop along. her experiences are that her prose has gotten tighter and more straightforward as a result, saving her from the usual rambling sentences authors like to lose themselves in at times *cough* guilty as charged.

cheers~
