James stormed into the house after a long day at work, his face contorted with anger. He spotted his mother sitting calmly on a chair and demanded, "Mom, did you take 200 bucks from my pants pocket?"
A moment passed in silence, but his mother didn’t respond. Growing more impatient, James repeated, "Mom, I asked, did you take 200 bucks from my pants pocket?"
Again, there was no reply. Now furious, James exclaimed, "Mom, I know you're ignoring me on purpose because you took my money to buy your cosmetics and other stuff!" His voice was sharp with accusation.
This time, his mother finally spoke, her voice calm and detached. "James, are you saying something? I can't hear you."
"What? Mom, will you stop pretending?" James snapped.
"No, James. Believe me, if you sit on this chair, you won't hear anyone's voice."
"Mom, I'm not a child. Stop playing tricks on me!" James retorted, his anger still simmering.
"My dear son, believe me. If you don't, then sit here yourself," his mother said as she stood up from the chair.
James was convinced she was trying to fool him, but he thought, what harm could there be in sitting on the chair? So, he sat down.
His mother then asked, "Son, who is Jenny?"
A heavy silence filled the room. James remained speechless.
His mother asked again, "Son, who is Jenny?"
This time, James quickly replied, "Oh, Mom, you were right! If you sit on this chair, you really can't hear anything!"
"See, I told you!" his mother said with a knowing smile.
