Finish the story:

He chuckled. "You silly little thing," he said, his steps exuding confidence as he approached you, a smirk that said 'I already won' on his face. "Don't you know?"

"I have an army."

His attacker looked around, "Oh really? And where is this army?" He mumbled the words of a spell as a precaution, ready for at least a small platoon with his Beam of Force, should the need arise to finish the spell.

He explained, "I have an army... of trees!"

The spell never went off as roots grabbed his legs, tossing him to the ground. Then, stillness again.

"Wait, that was it? That was your big army? They were good for one attack, and then they went back to sleep," the other man said.

"Onward, men!" he beckoned, desperation in his voice, "Onward...?"

The trees snored that day, as unspeakable things happened around them. That day would be remembered in the annals of history as the Defeat of the Trees. Not that they really had been defeated, but it was a snappier title than the Day Someone Was Defeated Who Tried To Call Upon An Army Of Trees And Failed To Do More Than One Attack.

"I have an army."
"Good for you. But I have an arm, me. I know that's hard to grasp, especially for an armless sob like you, but better to be well-armed than a well that's armed. I mean, what would a well even need an arm for? I'd rather be badly armed than a well with arms, you know?"
"Well enough. But what if my army is arm-y? Would that work better to make your butter bitter?"

The voices in his head stopped. He was too drunk to care. Who would have thought the voices in his head would drink for one each? Certainly not him.

He chuckled. "You silly little thing," he said, his steps exuding confidence as he approached you, a smirk that said 'I already won' on his face. "Don't you know?"

"I have an army."

You saw it, outside of his godforsaken tower.

Countless men marching, their coordinated steps ceaselessly trampling upon the earth, forming vibrations that could be felt across the ground.

He eyed you, his hands behind his back, bearing an arrogance so palpable that it began to seep into the air. Standing silently, he disdained to even speak another word, merely seeking the despair he bestowed.

And indeed, a feeling befell you.

A truly familiar feeling, one that you have experienced countless of times, against many different individuals.

It was so,

so,

Amusing

"Pfft, hahaha!" It was a feeling that you've come to adore, crave for, even.

The feeling of eager anticipation, of expectation. That euphoric sensation of seeing your opponent's face, their hopes, their dreams, their... pride...

How intensely it contorts,

When you have utterly crushed them.

"What are you laughing at?" For a brief moment, his smile faltered before returning, seemingly having come to a realization. "How pitiful, you have broken under your own despair."

"Oh no, no no no, that is... so wrong." You held yourself together, trying to contain the deep laughter from clawing out once more. "The thing is, I couldn't quite restrain myself, seeing how pathetic you are, and how much more pathetic you will become."

His brows furrowed, your words ranging far out of his expectations.

"You brought your soldiers here, an answer I find exceptional." A grin escaped your lips as you continued, "Exceptionally foolish, that is."

Your voice churns as you release your laughter, morphing into something monstrous. Cracks began to fill your body, countless black tendrils surfacing from them, as if reaching out of the void.

Serrated mouths formed where they should not, streams of blood oozed out of them as your figure expanded.

"You brought them here to die!" The mouths spoke in unison.

Throughout the ordeal, the man observing slowly backed away step by step. His body began to shake, as his contours twisted into something you believe was much more suitable to him than the former.

Fear

"Y-You... w-what the hell are you?!" He managed to scream.

"We? We are the being that lulls you into your eternal slumber, The insanity that lurks beneath the minds of every madmen, the twisted thoughts of men manifested upon this wretched reality." You, or rather, we spoke, weaving the profound truth of our existence.

He shook with greater intensity, fluid seeping into the steps below his feet, a sign of his continence failing him. His eyes darted outside the tower towards his soldiers, hoping to bring respite with their aid, only for his heart to skip a beat.

Unbeknownst to him, the day had sharply darkened into the night, as the brightly shining sun was eclipsed by... Something. His men had stopped, quaking right where they stood.

"You may wield an army at your disposal, but we, ourselves, are a world." We spoke solemnly, our voice echoing across the void, allowing the infantry below to hear. "And we can crush yours at any given moment."

Suddenly, tendril swiftly wound around him, tightly wrapping him, yet allowing no harm to come to him.

"Worry not, for you will live a little longer." Cackling, our malice oozed towards him. "After all, you still need to witness how meaningless your army truly is."

[A/N: By the way, who is you in this context?]

"Well, I have a bigger army!"

"Nuh-uh! My army is the biggest in the world!"

"B-but mine is the biggest in the universe!"

"O-oh yeah! But mine has sharks with laser beams!"

"A-and mine has Cyber T-rexes with chainsaws!"

"But my sharks are expert T-rex tamers!"

"M-my cyber T-rexes cannot be tamed! Their cyber nanochip brains don't let them disobey orders!"

"Y-yeah!? But the secret magic sealed on the left eye of my sharks lets them control machines!"

"Kids! Come inside! It's time to eat lunch!" Mom suddenly shouted.

And so, peace was reached by the biggest armies in the world and universe, for none of them would dare face the anger that mom emanates when we don't come after she calls.

meta and slightly eldritch horror with her mouth
I liked it!

(btw I wasn't planning anything sexual when I wrote the prompt...)
Sometimes you just must pervert something nice and action-y into something lewd. Right, @Succubiome ?
If you are, it's like those dreams that everyone has together. My brian hurts.
Poor Brian…. Why does he face so much pain, hmmm?

In 1997, Age of Empires changed RTS games forever.
Changed how? By confirming, that a game can be published by industry giant, like Mi©Ⓡo$oft, if you have right connections? :sneaky: As far as I remember, its innovative value was close to zero, if not exactly zero. And don't get me wrong: it was very good game. But to change something, you need to add to it something new, nonstandard, not thought off before.

"I have an army."

I looked his uniform over, some clown in his Bravos trying to threaten me; the problem for him was two-fold.

The first was that he had zero campaign ribbons. With all of the wars and invasions and alien/dimensional incursions we had experienced in the last five years alone, there should be at least a few pieces of cloth there that said he was in one of those fights but there weren't any, just the typical staff duty Pentagon rat placeholders on his rack.

Second, he said Army and I was a Marine; big difference.
