For us who use document-processing programs or apps, like Microsoft Word (for me, as we're provided by the Flip government with a license they paid for), we would certainly encounter difficulties should we transfer the chapters we wrote and formatted so hard for. Especially when it is heavy in formatting. And really, we don't want our works to become a chore for our readers, mainly because they came here to read and entertain themselves, not to work hard to know what's going to happen next in your story.
So, one of the solutions I came up with is through the use of other websites.
I post on Wattpad. I post on HoneyFeed. And though I don't post in Inkitt, I still have the 'saved' copies of my manuscripts uploaded there, just that, those weren't published. Reason?
Wattpad's formatting is compatible with ScribbleHub, than let's say, I copy-paste my chapters straight from my MS Word document. To do this, of course, you need to have an account there. And when you do...
1) Click on the 'Write' option. Then select 'My stories'.
(Yeah, don't mind the scammers...)
2) This will take you to your stories' list. Click on 'Continue Writing' then 'New Part'.
3) This will take you to this part of the site, where you can type/paste your chapter directly from the manuscript. Wattpad's UI will format it for you; you'll only have to add a few tweaks if you find it necessary.
4) Once you already pasted your chapter, you can either save it manually (Wattpad has an automated save function), but to 'format' your chapter so it will be compatible for ScribbleHub, you definitely need it on 'Edit mode.' Just select the entire chapter, copy and paste in the SH chapter you're working on.
Done!
"Hans, why did you include HoneyFeed?"
Well, HoneyFeed has similar UI as Wattpad, though you can upload a picture on the latter. Before I used Wattpad, I used to do the same in HoneyFeed, so yeah...just pick your poison. For Inkitt, well, I use that to divide my manuscript to chapters, because their UI has an automated chapter 'cutter' which makes my work faster.
Hey, if you got any other way of fixing manuscript format, feel free to post it here. Hope this helps!
