Writer's Block(?)

So, I haven't updated my story for a while because I'm stuck at a certain point of an arc. I'm already 100% sure on how to end it, but I can't seem to figure out how to get there. My mind just comes up blank whenever I try to write the sequence of scenes. Any tips on how to get through this?

Try writing something you might like and then see how it goes. Even if it’s blank, once you start, sometimes you won’t stop.

I'm quite satisfied with the ending actually, tbh I think the arc ending will be one of the best chapters I'll be writing. what I'm not satisfied with is the way I'm setting up the fights that will get the story to that point.

You can always come back to your current ending. You can think of another ending and start writing what is in-between. That way, you will at least start writing and generate ideas. Ideas that you might recycle and use for your current ending.

Well, it'd be quite awkward since I'm already approaching the conclusion to the arc, but I guess I can try.

Hmmm, we're probably the same time type of writer that thinks of a great ending but has no idea what to write in the middle. What I do there is write down what I need for that ending.

So, example: Kill the demon lord. We'll need: 1) Legendary sword, 2) magic scroll, 3) new spell, etc. To get there: 1) find the legendary sword - for finding the sword, need a few chapters in this or that magical forest. For the magical forest, I first need a chapter or two to find a guide. And for the magic scroll... and so on.

It becomes easy to make a checklist of this one, then work backwards from that. Once you got a long list of things to happen you can start slotting them in chronological order (or if you want flashbacks and stuff). Hope that helps.

I've already got all the pieces ready, I dunno why but it's quite difficult for me to put them in place, maybe that's why I suck at puzzles. Yeah, I have a lot of great ideas for stories but they fall flat since I don't even know how to get to the point I want to.

The ending is probably 15k+ words away(that's 5 chapters considering my average chapter length). However, it'll probably take only 6k words until it's pretty much set in stone.

But it's with the current ending. So, if you choose another one, you might write even more than 15k words. I don't think it's strange.

A plot twist is the way, just write anything that will take you to the ending, but twists the story to get into that ending it a little.

Well, my problem is I can't produce something I like.

If possible, can you go add an exterminator to that problem of yours? Foreshadow the exterminator and have him deal with the problem behind the scene abit.

You can try writing a few "calm before the storm" chapters.

Hm, what I do when I am stuck is anything else. I go read something, or see some movies or play video games! Other times I lay down on my bed listening to music to see where it takes me! *Hyper imagination.*

Sometimes it is best to write what you know, and then see how it turns out. Then you can go back and write the lead-up.

Write the full ending out then out of nowhere use a small snapshot of it as the start of your next chapter. Use it to get the reader invested where you sort of reveal things, but don’t at the same time. This can sometimes serve to get you yourself excited to write about how you got there now that you’ve teased the readers. You end up in a situation where the character questions how he found himself in that situation as he flashes back to that sequence of events.

Sometimes you just have to force yourself to write. Remove all distractions and just write.
