This time, you reincarnated in a world of demons (humans do not exist), and you entered the body of a greater demon.
Demon society is very similar to human society, except that there is a strong caste system.
Greater Demons have the most legal rights, whereas Lesser Demons have less rights, and grunts and minions (i.e. orcs, imps) have progressively fewer rights. Goblins are at the bottom of the social pyramid and are treated like slaves.
Since you used to be human, you recognize that goblins are horribly mistreated, abused, and exploited. Goblins can be killed or sacrificed upon their superior's whims for no reason at all, and goblins are often killed for entertainment. It is worse than animal abuse and you feel like their treatment is ethically reprehensible. You've talked to some goblins and they overall seem really sympathetic and nice. They are emotional, have feelings, families, and are just struggling to live their lives despite their miserable conditions.
Incidentally, for various reasons, you suddenly become the new Demon King/Queen. As dictator, you have the capacity to do whatever you want, although you are not all-powerful or invincible. If the entire kingdom rebelled against you, you would probably lose.
You talk to your demon advisors about potentially undoing the caste system and emancipating the goblin slaves, but they strongly recommend against it for several reasons:
  1. Goblins are less intelligent than other demons species and have objectively lower IQ
  2. Goblins can't be trusted to make decisions for themselves
  3. There are numerically more goblins than all other demon species and they breed too fast and need to be regularly killed before they overpopulate
  4. The demon economy depends on goblin slaves
  5. Why try to fix a system that works fine and isn't broken?
  6. Many of the higher demon species are naturally sadistic and like to have punching bags
  7. What will people do for entertainment if you ban goblin entertainment???
  8. The more powerful demons will dislike you for undoing the status quo, and there might be revolts
  9. Goblins are kind of ugly
  10. Literally nobody cares about goblins
1. As dictator, what do you do?

2. Would your opinion change if your advisors told you there was a 98% probability that there would be a demon rebellion if you tried to pass laws that improved the condition of goblins? What if your advisors told you that they were seriously worried that you might be overthrown for supporting an unpopular position? What if the probability of winning a civil war was only 5%?

3. Would you be more likely to ban slavery/mistreatment if it were humans being abused at the lowest tier instead of goblins?

4. Would your opinion change if you met a goblin that was super attractive/likable at the waifu/husbando level?

5. Suppose that you find out that many (~100) of your friends from your previous world reincarnated as goblins. Would this change your opinion or approach?

What kind of goblins are they? Like... Goblin Slayer goblins? or "Rimuru" goblins? or LOTR goblins? or?

1. Depends on what I could do... If its kill/imprison the rebels or be killed, I wouldn't bother, but if I had some kind of brainwashing powers or such and could gradually, forcibly convert all defeated rebels to my way of thinking... Then I "might" do something...

2. Same as 1.

3. No! Hyoomäns are the real monsters!

4. Same as 1 and 2.

5. Same as 1, 2 and 4.

Or! There's no humans in this world... so they're sort of just... goblin goblins... that are apparently "ugly" but aside from that seem nice.

You don't have brainwashing powers~ You're just super strong in battle!

According to the specifications this is too difficult a problem for me to solve.

I accept the fact that I am going to die trying to help them, and I will make my death one to remember, but nobody would know about it other than me.

I will first start by instigating conflicts, chaos, discord, rebellion, and purges that I can handle. Obviously, if I am straightforward and try to do everything at once I will be immediately destroyed, so my first order of business is to begin the routine of divide and conquer before the demons even realize there is a war. Hopefully, I can weaken my opponents before the real battle begins and they begin suspecting I have other intentions. When I can no longer bide time I will have to finally begin pursuing my true intentions. I will likely not admit that I actually want to help the goblins because apparently everybody hates the idea unless I am forced to, until that point in time I will be operating to achieve that goal under misleading pretenses that are more acceptable.

1. As a dictator i might have more things to do. But well, my goblins will feel it better dan the others. Id feel better, theyd feel better. Other goblins, well, wont feel it better. But haay, me dictator who do shit and seeing me do love lil greeny garbage might actually make other high dudes to at least act better to em as to appeal in front of me eh? Anyway dere is more important shit s going on as if politics and stuff still happen while in the dictatorship.

2. Opinions shmuinions. Nothing is done overnight(except for your diploma ofc) so as whatever law it is better to force - this exact force is needed. Build up the force and there would be no law dat cant be forced. Dictatorship we have here.

3. As we know - any decent human knows dat humans r pieces of shit so eeh, id more sympathise with goblins.

4. Whatever was my opinion, goblin waifu is to be kept close. Me dictator, me keep who me want.

5. Me still dictator me still keep close if needed. And i no have dat much friends anyway, ha.

As a dictator, you must maintain the loyalty of your keys to power. Even if we're talking about a fantasy world with high-powered individuals, old adage still stays true: no man rules alone. King's or Queen's power lies not in the ability to act, but in getting others to act on their behalf. They can not fight their wars alone, they can not build roads alone, they can not raise the treasure alone.

And herein lies the problem: not only your keys to power object to the emancipation of goblins but the goblin workforce is also a major source of raised treasure that you must spend on the loyalty of your keys. Because if you don't, you'll have to contend with those who do. Good luck with that. The income you (and your keys) just lost will be promised to be brought back by your adversaries, should your keys support them.

So, unless there's a way to make the goblin population into a key powerful enough to convince others of their usefulness, helping them is the same as spending money on charity: effort wasted on the irrelevant.

So, should anyone become a demon dictator and wish to stay in power (why would they become a dictator otherwise?), goblins are going to stay fucked either way.

Of course it will change. At that point just an idiot will not; or maybe some of these disgustingly righteous MC... Who for some reason will not only succeed in helping the goblins but will also manage to stop the 98% chance rebellion through the power of love and friendship... Or through the size of his massive d*ck in chase there were some enemy chicks...

Goddamn how much I hate these stories... And it's not even because the MC is delusional. He can be. What irks me is how he's not punished for obvious disadvantageous decisions just because these decisions were the ’right’ decisions. How the world and the already established rules neds to bend to the MC... And yes, this is mostly my rant against such stories!!!

Anyway, back to logic and realism. With such odds everything you'll do is to throw your life away and possibly worsening their situation as a result of your failure. There is no reason to rush, such cultural changes weren't meant to be done overnight. If you really want to help them, it would definitely not be achieved by instigating a civil war.

Also, even winning the civil war result in a lot of death. Which, by the way, isn't the nicest or prettiest thing to happen... Considering that you are a somehow nice person for wanting to help the goblins, either winning or losing the war kinda defeats its purpose in a way...
