So I've had this story up for quite some time now. I feel like it's been seeing good success, so I'm not taking what I've gotten for granted, but something fairly consistent that I run into is that it seems a good number of people drop off during the beginning sections. Mostly the first 10 chapters or so, and admittedly, most don't even get that far. From what I see, it's usually about 2 or 3 chapters in that people drop the story.
I'll preface this by saying that Matt's personality and expressions are completely intentional. His attitude, his dumb decisions, these sorts of things are integral to his growth as a person. He does mature over time, though I feel many do not want to wait it out. First impressions and all. However, if anyone feels like echoing those same sentiments, then I take no offense.
If you would like comments or input on a story of your own, then I am perfectly fine with trading a bit. My novel can be found in my signature.
