So suppose novel #1 post 1000 words every day and novel #2 posts 2000 words every other day. Do both have an equal chance to get trending? If not they maybe the algorithm should account for it somehow.

How the algorithm accounts for things is unknown to us. Though I don't think that it should matter what the word count is or how often they post when it's a matter of popularity, not a counter on who wrote the most each day. Maybe there's something I'm missing from this.

In these hypothetical works the word count is the same just the chapter views would be different. I am just wondering if that is accounted for somehow.

Just proposing that word count should be weighted along with number of chapters viewed.

Like a 2000 word chapter should have the same score as two 1000 word chapter views.

According to this 2019 post,

The old trending system was replaced with a new one. As of checking this, you're #11 in the new trending system. This is the quick explanation of the new trending system:

The new rank is based on pageviews, comments, favorites and the number of readers you've gained during this period. It takes two different periods (days) and find out how much the series has grown during that period.

So, yes, both stories would have an equal chance to get on Trending if these fundamentals are still in place within the current Trending system. I am sure there are other factors in play, too, but these feel like they’re the most steadfast and least likely to have changed.

@CadmarLegend I guess if it works like that then trying to add word count as a variable wouldn't change much. More chapters means more opportunists for interaction.

Back in December 2020, we tried to figure out how to get to trending using my novel in this site.

So, what we did is, we commented on the chapters, rained 'hearts' and encouraged others in 'bookmarking' the work within a short amount of time (it's only a day).

The other day after that particular 'reacts' day, I ended number 2 on trending.

However, I think the algorithm changed so...it might not be the best way to try to clinch a trending spot.

You know that comment section? Get people to freak out in it. You'll be trending in no time.
