Tell me why the hell do trucks kill so many people in isekai? At least use car accidents. Also, why do people have to be crossing streets to be hit? Please make them in a car being hit. Honestly, this is a bit of a rant, but I hate the hell out of the damn trucks now. Why does God somehow accidentally lose control of a truck and kill someone? Can't people make it a force of nature like lightning or a volcano? Why does no one do the trope where people get rewarded for doing good and that's why they get isekai'd? Also, more people die in car accidents than hit and runs sooooooo, please if any of you do isekai make them die in a damn car crash.

I rather have a 100% sure kill rate than a damn disability. Most accidents that kill people are trucks since cars needed to double tap to kill someone, even if they need to move fast. Considering on the science point where accidents happen, cars don't necessarily do enough damage to kill people in one shot(unless they are weak enough that cars can do enough damage to kill) plus, the momentum also isn't enough for a guaranteed kill. Truck has not only enough speed and weight to kill someone but also enough momentum that even if they saw a person on a street, it isn't enough for them to stop which will be too late before the victim dies.

:blob_evil:

I think the reason the victim isn't in a car is usually because the character doesn't own or need to drive their car. NEETs, office workers using the subway, so on and so forth.
Also small technicality: hit and run implies the driver left the scene, but usually the victim dies before we find out that the truck driver stayed to try and save them or whatever. Doesn't have to be a criminal act, just an accident.

Still, I think it's mostly just a meme. It's a cliché that's easy to use and mostly harmless, so people use it when they don't care how the character died. It's meant to be read and either snickered at or flat out ignored. 'Oh, the character died, what happens next?' Not, 'Oh great, another meeting with Truck-kun...' If you noticed it, it's either bad writing or you're overthinking it.

I will second the advice to try something different, though. Not caring how the character died is fine, but caring gives you a chance to improve the story. :blob_sir: I don't think making it a car crash would be a noticeable improvement, though.

Trucks cos heart attacks would be boring. Car crashes more terrifying than hit 'n runs imo, even a vehicle plowing into a crowd is less tense than a full bus barreling into a gas tanker with oncoming vehicles set to drive into this carnage at full speed.

A great way is what Lovecraft sorta did with opium in his tales, and that one movie Into the Void or something... well, letting a character overdose and pass into another world, tripping balls going out and coming in. fevered delirious dreams, some of which they gradually realize are in fact aspects of a new reality.

Rather than god losing control, I tend to think of it as a god in another world needing potentially powerful souls and, influencing things to facilitate the transfer. Maybe not specifically controlling what happens, but making SOMETHING happen, even if it wouldn't usually be too likely.

Thinking about it, this is common in films/cartoons as well. Person steps onto road, boof! Compare that to number of screened car crashes---very few i'd say. Off the top of my head, Fight Club and some sorta alien bunker movie. Guess there's stuff like that in Fast n Furious series and similar movies, action movies, don't tend to remember. But when it comes to a single person, the trope would be them walking instead of driving.

Maybe it has do with setting the scene, or simple production shots: they either think pedestrian meets metal is more dramatic than a head-on-head collision, or in films its simply cheaper to have a cutscene and have truck hit prop rather than wrecking two cars and paying the stuntmen driving them.

many pedestrian deaths happen cause the walking folk are drunk, yet most of the time its hasty, sober people being trucked in media. it's more likely that the driver is drunk rather than the walker in these portrayals.

It might also be that many stories are set in busy city areas where car on car accidents tend to be bumps rather than crashes, maybe making hit-and-runs easier to portray because of the large amount of pedestrians.

My dead boyfriend (2015) took a spill off his motorcycle on his way home from work and got run over by truck-kun. Broke his pelvis. He was still alive when first responders got to him, but his heart stopped in the helicopter on the way to the hospital, and they couldn't get it started again. We think his soul left his body, looked down, said, "Fuck no!" and moved on. We are also somewhat suspicious that his organ donor status caused the doctors to give up early.

Truck-kun is all-pervasive, all-powerful, all-knowing. He is not just a truck. He is god. He is everything. He is life, and he is death. He gives meaning to existence, as well as life beyond death. He is the genesis - the big bang; the matrix. Everything and everyone revolves around the laws he's ordained.

Don't be foolish. The fact that you're blaspheming god, know that it also a part of his machinations. You are able to, only because he permitted to do so. We are but one cogwheel in the grander scheme of things.

Truck is god. God is truck.

I mean... If you wanna make someone reincarnate at the start of the novel and don't really have any particular plot points related to the protagonist's death planned, Truck-kun is a pretty functional option.

It just works, yanno? No need to try to reinvent the wheel.

Sure, a lightning strike also works, or just falling down the stairs and hitting your head or whatever, but... Truck-kun is just as efficient.

As for car accidents... That could mean that the MC's family died too in the accident... Making it so that only the MC died leaves a better feeling IMO~

Personally, I don't see why people don't talk about the REAL elephant in the room! That is that truck-kun isn't the bad guy! He is simply discriminated against cause no one understands him!

Truck-kun is riding down the street happily delivering furniture to all those in need. Then on the sidewalk Truck-kun spots a poor sad NEET... worst of all he is crying... dumped by his girlfriend.

Truck-kun doesn't understand what being dumped by a 2d girlfriend means but Truck-kun feels sad for said NEET. Truck-kun looks left and right but sees nobody there to help him... is that not sad? The poor NEET is sad and nobody is there to help him! They just mind their own business and carry on! How can people be so engineless?

But Truck-kun is not like those mean engineless people! Truck-kun has a warm engine inside and wants to spread that warmth! And Truck-kun knows exactly what that NEET needs right now!

Yup, that's right a HUG!

As the NEET crosses the sidewalk, Truck-kun revs up his warm engine and in all his glory runs to give the NEET the hug of a lifetime!
*VOOOOOOOO*
*BAM*

"ARGH!!!"

Hmm... well that's weird... Truck-kun is confused, where has NEET gone? He was just there a minute ago and he just suddently disappeared...

"H-e-l-p m-e..." came a voice...

Truck-kun hearing some strange noise coming from underneath did just the thing anyone would do when asked for help! Truck-kun must help! But there is a problem... the voice is coming from underneath so Truck-kun has to move to find said voice! Setting his gears to reverse, Truck-kun back tracked to find and help that voice!
*VOOOOOOOO*
"ARGH!!!"

There it is, that strange voice again! But where is this voice coming from? Truck-kun goes back and forth all around the spot to locate the source of the voice! Because Truck-kun is a good truck and always willing to help!

*VOOOOOOOO*
"ARGH!!!"
*VOOOOOOOO*
"ARGH!!!"
*VOOOOOOOO*
"ARGH!!!"

And at one point Truck-kun stopped hearing that voice... all Truck-kun wanted to do was help... but if the voice stops, how can Truck-kun help? Feeling sad that Truck-kun couldn't help neither the NEET nor that voice, he moves on... Oh well, there is furniture to deliver! Truck-kun will definitely make someone happy today!

And thus Truck-kun moves on, followed by a trail of red paint... while Truck-kun is a bit worried that red paint might confuse other drivers, Truck-kun remembers that one proverb he once heard prior to giving someone a hug, "If you mind it, you lose". And if there is one thing that Truck-kun doesn't want to do, and that's lose!

Because if Truck-kun loses, who is going to give those poor lonely NEETs their hugs?

Whether there will be a chapter 2 some day is unknown.
