And what’s wrong with that? And westerners 1st world people arent any better than people who are 3rd world, it just means we tend to have more access to stuff than you guys would, which general is just technology. And even in 1st world countries you can go to areas that make you contemplate if it really is 1st world due to the government/society’s neglect of it’s poorer population.
“Overtly narcissistic english-speaking wannabe/weeb”; god, I like how accurate that sounds. It’s like you have to be fluent in English before you consider yourself a weeb. We have a discord that’s dedicated to our whole school, all grade levels, and it’s plagued by overtly narcissistic english-speaking wannabe/weebs, who overuse the greeting “henlo,” who have anime or VTuber or Genshin Impact profile pictures, who most likely watched or played the game “Omori,” who for some reason doesn’t capitalize the first letter of their messages. Yes, this stereotype that makes Philippines seem like a first-world country.

I prefer the generic ones who unironically talk in pure Filipino with the first letters of their messages capitalized, not using terms like “git gud” and “poggers.”
Weeb is an American term for people who are obsessed on anime/manga and try to learn the language through it and they sound like an anime character too, it was a derogative term, but people just meme on it now.

I never expected a post like this in SH this type of shit usually goes in r/ph or whatever Filipino forums/discords are out there.

In a sense in terms of animation seeing Trese is kind of a good thing you know? Filipino Animators are heavily underpaid. Seeing Trese as a Filipino on the screen is a hard on boner. Sure it ain't perfect but it's a good start and a signification that Filipino Animation is starting to improve for the better. Plus getting international recognition is pretty big for us. You don't hear jack shit about RPG:Metanoia or Barangay 143 outside of the Filipino Sphere.

If you are annoyed by Filipino Fans saying their unending praise for shows and animation then its alright but that doesn't mean you should stop others from sharing their enjoyment. I understand that you have heavy grievances with Filipino Culture. I also have too like a lot(A big ton, I want to leave this country as soon as possible).

Also Trash Taste isn't even that good of a podcast so you deserve to be mocked for listening to it like it's something to be proud about.
What do you expect? its Trash Taste I love it and I'm proud of it. It works for people because of the synergy.

I just hope you aren’t like one of those Filipino fans that literally scream when Joey, Grant, and Connor mention the term “Yakult.” But either way—you have good taste.

I've absolutely never seen people like them. A large chunk of trash taste fans I have seen are decent though. Then again we are talking Filipino Fans here. This applies to even outside of trash taste. Best example for me would be Filipino fans of Kyedae if you know her.

Also it's kinda dumb that Filipinos would scream Yakult. It's not even Filipino though.

I just checked her YouTube channel, scrolled down some comments, and oh lord. They’d preface with “As a Filipino,” then it all goes downhill from there. But most of her Filipino fans don’t seem like the stereotypical English-obsessed weebs—they seem to be those Filipino fans who’d listen to IV OF SPADES, or who’d only watch anime like “Your Name.”

Yeah. It’s actually Japanese.

Ah shit, I feel like I know them. Are these fans the people who make groups just to hate on the current anime trends? Like for example when Tokyo Revengers and Jujutsu Kaisen was big and the fans of our country are in a craze about it. They come to the point where they would compare Jujutsu Kaisen to Tensura and say the latter is better. (No offense Tensura is good but it's not as good as Jujutsu Kaisen.)

If these are the people that you hangout it would be better to ignore them. I feel like they are just a small portion of Filipino Weeb. Majority of them are making memes.

I’ve hung out with a few weebs. One is a literal loli girl that’s obsessed with Love Live, one is a girl who likes to watch anime like Yosuga no Sora, one is a boy who’d run like Naruto in school, and one is a boy that creates those cringe anime AMVs. I admit I used to be like one of those typical Filipino weeb- and meme-lords, but now I’ve graduated from that and became a normie.

I think everyone is going to end up as a normie (subjectively, maybe), like moving out of your edgy phase. While cultured weebs have this sense of superiority over standard normies, normies that have graduated from weebism have a sense of superiority over cultured weebs. That’s why I get annoyed when the term “normie” is being treated as derogatory, and to cope with that, I always convince myself that I used to be like them. I’m a proud normie, and no one can stop me.

Crazy how I am a vice versa. I doubt I will ever stop being a weeb. To be fair though normie became derogatory as to how many people made fun of anime fans. They still do outside of the Philippines. Now that anime is becoming more popular. The derogative meaning of normie is slowly fading away.

That said though It will never disappear. There are many types of a weeb and I've seen more of them. Here in the Philippines, anime was generally accepted by the late 2000s and early 2010s it wasn't as normalized as now but it was accepted. So you're bound to meet people who enjoy anime here and then. You are also bound to meet extreme weebs.

Nowadays weebs that use normie are lesser than what it was back then. So now these types of fans are a small portion of the anime community(Yet is still big due to how large the anime community has grown). More acceptance = Less Derogatory.

Don't worry about Filipino Anime Fans. They may be annoying online but they are very fun in real life.

Yeah, the more popular the anime is, the less derogative “normie” is. The term is also getting vaguer and vaguer. And now that term is out of the way, in this world, it’s now only non-anime and anime people, not normies and weebs.

Idk. Only group of people I've never been able to stomach being around are French people. Every one of them I've ever met, were arrogant narcissistic pricks who acted as if the sun rose and set only on France and the French people. Idk what it is with French people, but they have this enormous sense of undeserved pride that aggravates me, and since Quebecois (French Canadians basically) tend to have a sizeable population where I live, I have to deal with those pricks as well. It seems just having ANY French heritage at all makes one have that arrogance.

I'm not normally espousing negativity on any ethnicity, (not even Chinese despite the fact that they have more than earned it worldwide), but man...French people suck. If you're French on here, I do not take back what I said. Chances are, I wouldn't like you either because in my opinion, you probably have that same weird sneer on your face too that you don't even recognize because you're French yourself and it's been normalized so you don't even see it anymore.

That's not really unique of Indians. All religions espouse to be "the proper one", or at least all of the Modern-Day Big 4 (Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism) Though I will say I do believe that Hinduism is the smallest of the Big 4 since it hasn't spread quite like a wildfire as the other three have.
My grandfather is Canadian, but how can I be arrogant when i hate everything about myself?

Pretty sure me and Discount were referring to French-Canadians, meaning Quebecois. Most Canadians outside of Quebec have English origins, therefore not French while most Canadians living with Quebec have French origins.

I even mentioned Quebecois like twice.
