Why are you writing?

Writing isn't about you, it is about that person on the other side of your monitor. You simply think that if you write, you'll be rewarded for it someday. Whatsoever, it isn't so simple. You think that because you're having fun that you should keep on writing. I've seen writers who love to say "I love writing" but their faces don't say so, their determination lacks respect. When you like something, you dedicate your life to it. You put actions through your words. It isn't just about combining words to create a sentence.

I've seen writers with large egos that don't read others' novels because it is a competition—yet they tell others to keep on writing and reading others' novels. I've seen writers asking for some advice yet they don't follow halfway through it. I've seen writers who keep on procrastinating and think that something different will happen once they write. I've seen writers who're really active in the forum but not on their ongoing novels. Then, at the end of the day, they say "they love writing" or "enjoy the thrill of whatever writing gives".

Just... why are they writing? And you, why are you writing?

I write to make the world a more accepting place.
I write a story that I wanted to read, simple.
This is another reason I write. Actually, it's the reason I write, and the other is the reason I actually share my writing.

I'm interesting, my ideas are interesting. What I write is way more interesting than 99% of stories I read here but I want to find diamomds in the rough. Writing is nice but I want to read more things from interesting people rather than being the only author attempting new and interesting ideas.

I'm writing because I want to share the worlds in my head with others in the hopes that they enjoy them as well. Still a total novice though, so it's a bit difficult. I also write because people enjoying my story makes me feel better about myself.

I write for fun with the intent of someday making it my job. Though there is a mild desire to make the whack dreams I have a reality. Where else could I imagine people tripping balls with Greek gods and convincing children to eventually bang your best friend once they're old enough just so that they can fake their death and cause your best friend to go into a depressive state and commit genocide?

Writing gives me inspiration to work on my drawing skills, since I really want to end up making a living out of drawing waifus and lewds. Plus, writing gives me a way of expressing love to my favorite anime series. Seeing all the art and imagining all the scenes and OPs/EDs for my series makes it a lot easier for me to pretend that I am working on an adaptation or something.

Also, having my works actually posted gives me a sense of achievement, no matter how useless it is in the grand scheme of things. It's like a thing for me to look back on and say "hey, you actually can do something worthwhile" or "wow, you actually exerted so much effort on this one, you're so passionate." Something like that.

I write for an escape. Not my job, or do I want it to be. I love to create worlds to escape from my shitty life. Now, the reason I post isn't that I want people to adore my work. I honestly thought no one would like my crazy storytelling. But I did so in the hopes one would use it as the same escape as I do. When I began, I thought if I accomplish that, then guess what, I have gotten to my goal.

And I have, so I am a happy camper! One that is working in ways to make my work more accessible to others currently. :blob_melt: One that hopes my work will be the escape others need. That is all I want to do with my writing.

I write to
a. Get all the story ideas in my mind and write them down so others can read them
b. Have something to do besides waiting for updates on stuff I'm reading
c. Let my inner 8th-grader take over and make what I think is badass but is actually cringe. Y'know, the usual

I may be a hypocrite; maybe a little creepy
Do I love writing? I don't know. However, nowadays when I read another novel. It just keeps reminding me with every paragraph I get through it only keeps distracting me and ruining my concentration. Saying hay go back and make your next chapter if you got time to read someone else work.
Do I like my brain for saying that no
honestly, It's annoying and needs to be quiet.. however, it kills my enjoyment of reading other people's unique stories.

But why do I write? Well, that is because I have a story-eating way in my mind. So instead of being mindless, I write it.

I find myself drifting from hobby to hobby, but writing always makes me feel grounded when I'm throwing words at things.

I also have a character I really want to share, but writing is the only medium I can really do it with and hope to give it justice.

I write partially for fun, but also because I spend all day day dreaming, so I might as well write down my thoughts. Spent three years coming up with the vague outline for Under the Tower! Then took 5 minutes to come up with the same for a different story…

Desperation/nothing better to do. Also I wanted a story where all the tropes/tags/fetishes are to my liking.
