Why are cultivation novels usually in the thousands?

So, I've been reading a lot of cultivation novels, xianxia to be more specific, so can someone tell me why?

Reverend Insanity: 2334 Chapters
Emperor's Domination: 7000 Chapters Ongoing (How the f#ck is this possible)

Chinese authors are paid by chapters. It's how the models work, so if a story works out, the incentive is to keep the chapters coming.

That's all. As long as it pays, it will never stop.

I mean, I understand that, but God damn 7000 chapters! How do you even think of that many things!?

I mean that is true, but at some point, surely you have nothing left to repeat, RIGHT?
Then you go through tribulation and can repeat everything again with just a bit stronger enemy. And if you can't go higher, you go as a godly being to another world and either lose your powers temporarily or take it over and now we have a world development arc.

Every third chap rehash what happened in the previous 2 chaps then a chap or 2 rehasing what has happened so far in arc then season then book, oh look 10 chapters so far for 2 chapters of content.

It's basically a vicious cycle of slapping the complaining young master to the ancestors and rising in cultivation, then MC repeats the same pattern in other sects for thousands of chapters.
