This question cannot be answered properly without knowing your level of skills and your method of writing. Some authors can even turn a talking wall into something interesting. Heck, The Brother's Grimm managed to make a talking mirror interesting, from an originally droll story.

Whenever people say immortal genre, Ai-chan assume they would mean the immortals that live on the floating mountain of Zu, or Hua, or Huang. Nobody writes about the Persian Immortals. And nobody would refer to the demigods of Classical Greece and Ancient Egypt by 'immortal'. The 'highlanders' in Highlander were described as 'immortal', but as far as Ai-chan can remember, they were never addressed as immortal.
