I still haven't found a proper war novel. It always has it as a background.

Sword and Sorcery is the best.

Certainly not urban fantasy or litrpg for me. Broadly I would say Epic fantasy. And to your second question, yes.

Try The Eagle's Flight. War is one of the focuses there, though not the only one, and so it's not always in focus.

World War II is a lot more interesting when it involves Japanese dragonriders versus Polish reality-manipulators.
