Tell which generation you believe had the best Pokemon and tell me your top 3 from that generation.

As a Pokemon Champion in all the regions, Hoenn (3rd Gen) Pokemon is the best, especially if you add in the Mega Evolution. Then Kanto (1st Gen) holds the second place, and the third would be Sinnoh (4th Gen).

Pikachu will always be the best Pokémon. It made me money, it has helped my Nintendo stock go up. Though I will grant you now days it only owns 1/3 of The Pokémon company.

Gen 2 gave us Swinub and I am biased. Sure, gen 5 gave us Tepig, but I don't think I've quite forgiven it for also giving us Vanilite.

Technically whatever is the current gen almost always has the best pokemon because of power creep. Probably the three best of this gen were Flutter Mane, Houndstone, and Palafin, because they all got banned from OU singles after a few days of release.

The concepts seemed strongest in the first. The graphics seemed best in the second. Everything seemed to go slowly but steadily downhill from there, except in terms of power level due to power creep, which is an every rising benchmark.

Favorite concepts were Pikachu, Charmander and the plant one I can never remember the name of.
Second generation brought Mewtoo and a few others I really liked but can't quite keep straight anymore.

5th
Scolipede, Escavalier, Terracosta

I was biased for 2nd gen for ages
Miltank, Kingdra, Crobat

I still have no idea where my copy of Gold went.
And, if anyone wants to try out some of the more recent generation games:

Check out Drayano's romhacks for unlocking the entire roster and better pacing in story/battles.

There's good and bad picks from every generation. Can't deny I spent the most time in Gen 3 though, either through the main series or the remakes.

Top three *from that generation*, huh? I'm really terrible at picking favorites, no matter how you limit it. And starters are out, because they're too obvious.

This list still misses a few good ones though...

Kinda funny that these are all just rip offs of Gen 1 Pokemon. I can see why people say gen 3 is a soft reboot of Gen 1. Gardevoir is the reboot version of Alakazam, Aggron is Rydon, Milotic is Gyrados, Breloom is mushroom Poliwrath, and Absol functions exactly like Scyther in gen 1 where it basically only has access to normal moves and just uses slash. Flygon is the only unique design.

While I love Hoenn, I have to give this to Kalos. Greninja has a very cool design, especially if you include ash-greninja (battle bond). Yveltal is still one of my favorite designs, and the lore is pretty cool, too. If we're counting all of its forms, I'd like to give the #3 spot to zygarde, but it feels like a cop out to list 2 legendary pokemon. So, the #3 spot will go to dragalge. Honorable mentions: malamar, aegislash, pangoro, the talonflame line, goodra, trevenant, gourgeist, noivern, and (almost) all of the megas.

Mewtwo was gen 1.

Really? Huh. Only kind of got into the thing just as Gen2 launched and first I heard of MewTwo was in the movie which I thought launched Gen2 in animation? Dropped out as Gen 4 was coming out.

I never like(d) the popularity for the fire one. Especially the "meta" super evo of him.

Blastoise (GUNS/CANNONS+water) > Bulbasaur (it sounds and looks badass when imagining a SKILL THAT VAMP THE ENEMY /s also the bud is cute) > Charmander is cute but not evolutions

Funny story. I once contemplated getting into making gaming Youtube videos. I was not cut out for editing, so it never went anywhere, but I was going to call myself "Gassy Charmander" because I thought it was hilarious.
