I am a new author, writing my first story. I just have 10+ chapters and 50+ readers. So the question is, when is the best time to add a discord server to my story?

Is it too early?

or

Is it never too early?

I'm not a well known author myself, but I'd say it would be wise to make one when you're confident that a handful of people will actually join and keep it active.

So really it depends. Do people comment on your story a lot?

No. I believe there are going to be plenty in two weeks though. But I get what you are trying to say.

When you have a decent readership in multiple platforms imo. Not that I have that, just seems like before that it'd be better to just communicate through author's notes and comments.

When there is a lot of fans. How much is a lot? Around 20, maybe 30+ people who comment on your every chapter? I don't know this, as the fanbase of every novel is vastly different. You might have 1k readers, but all of them are silent readers, and they won't join discord. At the same time, you might have, let's say, 400 readers. And those 400 are very rowdy, and at least half of them will join your discord.
