I've been thinking about...story content. And, while I mainly frequent RR (Royal Road) instead of SH, there are a few major differences between the sites. RR is known for its edgy and angst-filled stories with gruesome, psychopathic murderhobos and SH is just plain hornyville. There are so many tags just for sex stuff. So I've got to ask, what's worse to read: the most disturbingly graphic murderhobos or the most disturbingly graphic sexual degenerates?

Though I agree with you, there are good, non-sexual stories here.

See, the way I envision this is that sex mainly works on a visual medium, since so much on it relies on feel and sight is the most sensitive part of our body. Simply reading about a hot chick getting railed just can't compare to an animated rendition of the same thing happening in 4K. Unless your story isn't primarily about sex and is only used as a means to tell a story, then I can't see why you wouldn't choose the 6-digit foundry over SH (unless you're looking for acquired taste, but that's why we have the Sad Panda).

As for murder, things get a little more nuanced. Violence isn't something as easy as visually representing it. Whereas sex can be just as enticing with cardboard cutout characters (for the most part) murder can do so much more with nuance and story. The reason why the average Saw film, filled with elaborate death traps and gore, can't match up to the intensity of that one scene in Joker where Arthur beats up two guys in an apartment.

Murder works best when there's weight behind it. Sex applies to that rule to, but not nearly as much as the effect that violence has. Mind that I'm referring both to their individual aspects alone, free of any context. Sex works as a standalone part (hence we got the Hub) but Murder requires at least SOME semblance of reason behind it, and sometimes, text delivers it better than visual medium, as they're able to convey mental states and emotions much better and more specific.

Which means Murderhobos have a MUCH BIGGER margin of error to fuck up in. Sex is okay, since all we're in for is watching an oversized frankfurter spray baby batter inside a soft clam. Murder doesn't have that privilege. There's only so many ways you could convey killing another guy, and it doesn't have the same natural, primitive, human pull as clapping cheeks and sucking pecs have.

So yeah, it's Murderhobos for me and it's not the fault of the genre. People are just terrible at creating context if all they want to do is show people getting murdered. They're just as equally bad in Sex, but the reality is that it's Sex. It's gonna be good, no matter what.

Unless your fetish borders beyond the average /b/ threads. Then I might need you to take a seat and hold these two crocodile clips to your nipples. Don't worry; it'll be fast.

I know. It's just hard to find them when sex is so popular on here.
Isn't stories with sex so popular here, because the rules are quite lenient? You can't find them where they are banned, so naturally, those who want more freedom would come here.
As for the question in your post, I would rather read about murder. No matter how graphic it is, it won't exceed the limit of my disgust, as it's mostly images that are disgusting for me, not descriptions. As for sexual deviations, though it's not as hard to read about them is it's consensual. When it's rape, combined with the sexual deviations goes into place, that I can't stand as it's a violation of a character's personality and mind, rather than a flash wound.

I have a question, why would any of them be worse to read? If I don't want to read something, I simply don't...

So the topic of what is worse to read is only if someone holds a gun to your head, otherwise all that matters is what is best to read!

I mean we only have around 150,000,000,000 years, so might as well use our time here efficiently.

You know what's better? Knowing we have 150,000,000,000 years to live and STILL never touch Wan Piss out of pure spite.

Either one is fine, as long as it progresses the plot. Assuming the story has a plot that doesn't involve them in every chapters.

That's a very...detailed aspect I never really thought about. And it's so weird how you're talking seriously about murder at one point and then go 'clapping cheeks and sucking pecs'. That's, like, some top tier (un?)intentional comedy.

I'm going to go with disturbing violence. Hear me out.

People who write the worst of the worst stuff are generally pretty bad at writing. So what's worse? Extremely poorly written violence or smut? The answer is clearly smut. A poorly written sex scene is still horribly embarrassing. You are still going to get some weird fetish stuff in there, and it might actually be more uncomfortable because it is written poorly.

Violence on the other hand is the opposite. It takes a good writer to truly elevate something and make it grotesque. If you aren't Cormack McCarthy, I'm probably not going to be completely horrified.
