That moment when you saw another user entirely read your novel.

A broad grin stuck on my face the whole day, as the reader reminded me, "Yeah, I did this for this."

What's yours?
(Let's be honest, earning from what you wrote is like heaven)

Mine would be, when the readers are getting carried away with the story. It feels like I am an effective writer.

Having no mental block and capable of churning chapters. I am having a blocked nose and constipation lately in the writing process even though I have the skeleton ready. It hurts.

I even stop writing the new porn ideas because the notion of writing is scratching me in the wrong places.

At the beginning I also had that rush when I saw new readers. But I stopped myself, because that can hurt really fast when your reader count drops and you feel worthless because someone on the internet stopped reading your stuff...

What's yours?
For one of my old novels I had someone write me a PM where he thanked me that I helped him overcome the sorrow of losing someone. For my current novel I had multiple people who commented/messaged me expressing how they press F5 to see if my novel has an update...

I don't think I'll ever earn a living through writing. So it's more of a hobby I can't live without (though I tried quitting multiple times) and seeing people who actually connect to your stories and ideas is wonderful...

For me, its the comments. I am myself the lurker type, so I get great joy when someone comments anything besides 'Thx for chap'. Whether its negative or positive, it still means that someone felt so passionate about my work that he/she took time to write something. I haven't said anything to him till now, but there is that one user, @Xpacetrue who used to leave 500+ word long comments on every one of my chapters, sometimes more than one. He is definately one of my top 3 readers on this website. I have started another novel, and secretly wish that he would also read it.

Amazing. 500+ words comments are treasures. I wish I had at least one hahaha.

I'm constantly happy for just being lucky enough to be literate enough to write.

I actually think there isn't just one happiness for me as an author. It's lots of things: Having an awesome (I think) idea, tackling that scene that was being troublesome, reaching that arc I was looking forward to since volume 2, finishing a story or a volume of a series, seeing people like chapters or comment, seeing people jump at a new upload as soon as it goes online, reading somebody's interpretation of a certain part of the story that I might not even have thought of myself, having a conversation about the backstory of a story and what inspired it, editing and finally finding that one word that was at the tip of my tongue when I was writing that part but just couldn't get out. Heck, even rereading some of the older chapters myself is a joy.

hmmm, I like it when I have
Writer's High
Which means writing chapters for 2-4 hours straight
Yeah this is mine too. I think this is just a normal flow state at the end of the day though. There's nothing more enjoyable than hearing the hammering of the keys while the story plays out in your mind scene for scene.

I guess it's nice when people read it afterwards too though, haha

When readers empathize with the characters.
When they say a story or chapter either helped them through difficult times or made their day even a little brighter.
When they laugh at the funny scenes and feel sad at the tragic parts. It reassures me that I didn't fail to convey the mood properly.
When some aspect I've worked really hard on in the story gets noticed.
But most of all, it's gratifying to look back and see all the stories and chapters I've completed, all the characters I've created, and all the concepts I've tackled to my satisfaction~ :blob_melt:

Happiness, killing all of my characters in one particular fiction. You probably won't understand.
