What makes you motivated in writing novels?
Me? Nothing...
I am dead inside...
But if i have to say something, it'll be when i daydream.

Even if it takes forever to complete?
If it is me, it won't take forever.

Look at my novels. I wrote those starting May 2019, up to December 2024.

Works taking forever are just products of endless procrastination, or unforeseen circumstances (like severe sickness, etc.) In most cases, it's the former.

Hope is one of the two things that keeps many on going. The other is hatred.

If Imma pick, I'll go for the former. And if you wanna stay motivated, you'll definitely have to change how you look at your writing.

Seeing it just as a chore, or something to flex around, should prompt you to think of another hobby that might fit you.

Well there's just something fun that I find about writing. For me writing is like entertainment, but one where you are making your own work to entertain others along with the hope to be able to go full time one day.

The thought of finishing something and having someone to read it.

My own enjoyment for crafting stories, usually. :blob_melt:

If that fails, then the nagging thought that I really ought to be doing something productive, and that idea in my head is going to fade eventually if I don't put it on (virtual) paper.

But mostly the former.

It may sound stupid, but when I listen to music I get really motivated, for example, just the right exciting battle track and I get the desire to write some fighting scene.
That's why, for me, choosing the music that I use as background for writing is the most important thing. And also why I seldom write in busy places like bus stations or cafes.

Yeah. That feeling when that beat drops or the piano and music box.
