What makes a movie/television show an 'A-list(er)', a 'B-list(er)', a 'C-list(er)', etc. movie/show?

Hello!!!!

I sometimes hear/read the word A-list(er), B-lister, etc. being used when movies or television shows are being reviewed. What criterias must the movies/television shows fulfill in order to be categorized in the way that I mentioned on the title of this thread and how many of these ranks are there?

I have no idea.
I never thought there was any actual list.
But that it was based on their popularity, skill, status, and other values.

It is money. I am pretty sure it's based on how much a star can make at a box office filming. So someone who is B-list could be talented and make it to A-list by acting skill. Hollywood would then decide them to cast them in an A-list movie.

"A B movie, or B film, is a type of low-budget commercial motion picture. Originally, during the Golden Age of Hollywood, this term specifically referred to films meant to be shown as the lesser-known second half of a double feature, somewhat similar to B-sides in the world of recorded music" according to google

Money, budget, cost of actors, "Actor Skill" and experience. Same deal as gaming studio ratings. A "AAA" game has multiple studios, a deep wallet, and is supposed to produce a high quality game compared to what you'd expect from an Indie developer.

I would've posted that South Park gif where cable guys rub their own nipples since I was right, but I don't know if I can do it.
